Title: Easiest reviews of the big 4: iStockphoto.com
Post by: Perry on July 22, 2011, 05:29
Remember the day when IS had the pickiest reviewers? My current observation is they seem to accept almost anything i submit. They are propably desperate for new material (?)

In the other hand, SS, DT, FT are getting more and more difficult to submit to. I used to have a 90%+ acceptance ratio, but now its more like 50% (I haven't got the courage to check out my numbers...)

This is how the tables turn...

(Bottom line: the sites should accept almost anything that is technically good enough. Let the customers vote with their clicks and buys and weed out the non-selling crap after it has been online for a couple of years. It's getting really frustrating to submit decent images and get them rejected because they are "too similar" oor "limited commercial value" or something else)

You can add 123RF to that list of high rejection sites . . . .

If you're independent, why not spread your similars over the different agencies? Just a thought, and not one I've ever tried.

Yes. there has been an obvious reversal in the rejection patterns on the top four agencies - fotolia and iStock have got easier the other two tougher. I wonder if an influx of former exclusives to SS and DT has made them more picky.

Clearly we all need to just suck it up and cope, but I do find the LCV rejections for things with a very strong sales record to be very frustrating. They clearly don't know what sells and what doesn't.

Yeah, the market should tell what's selling. On the other hand, there are many photogs that just upload batches of pics they just made. We're working on a two level system where "a proven artist" would have faster and easier way to get his/her pics on the site. And the newcomer must prove the skills first.

So it would not be annoying as the first batch approval while still giving the agency a way to keep the cost of approval in the balance.

You've gotta be kidding.  100% acceptance on SS, FT, DT recently.  Haven't sent anything to IS for a while so tried 3 of the better ones  - 2 rejected so far and not holding my breath about the 3rd.  I'd post them only can't be arsed signing up somewhere just to show a 100% version.
