I have been uploading my videos to VideoHive and selling them directly there. I recently got this email:

Quote
Hi [my name],

Your Videohive portfolio caught our attention and we think it would be a great fit on Envato Elements!

Thats why were inviting you, a valued Videohive Author, to join Envato Elements and take advantage of Triple Rewards for Video Authors on Elements.

Joining Envato Elements is an invitation-only opportunity, allowing authors like you to reach new customers and earn more from your new and existing Motion Graphics items on Videohive.

How much can I earn with Envato Elements?
To help you understand how much you could earn with Envato Elements, weve provided an estimate based on the average earnings per item for Motion Graphics on Elements.

Including Triple Rewards, you could expect to earn $ 190.00 - $ 220.00 per month, based on your portfolio of 120 Motion Graphics (on Videohive).

Triple Rewards is calculated as twice your usage fee earnings on Envato Elements customer item downloads of your Motion Graphics items, for 90 days.

Please note that this is an estimate only and may be less depending on the commercial demand of whether customers are looking for the type of items you create.

What do I need to know?
Selling Motion Graphics on Elements is an all-in deal. We will automatically transfer your Motion Graphics items from your VideoHive portfolio onto your Elements portfolio. This will happen one time for all of your existing content then on an ongoing basis for all new content you upload to VideoHive.

This sounds great! How do I get involved?
All you need to do is submit an Envato Elements application.

Once youve applied for Elements, youll need to pass an account history check and an author ID check. This provides a trusted environment for our customers and authors to conduct business, and maintain the success of our community.

Once youve been approved we will transfer your existing items from Videohive to Elements and you will triple your usage fee earnings on new and existing Motion Graphics items for 90 days from the date of publication!

Click here to check out the terms and conditions.

Thanks,

Team Envato

Is this worth doing? For reference I have been earning around $160 per month on average and the range they provided there isn't much higher. I'm not sure I understand any potential drawbacks of doing this.

I'm already selling on Videohive, I just don't know if there's much of a benefit to selling on "Envato Elements" vs. Videohive. I think Envato owns both.

Do a search for Envato Elements. There are lots of threads about it from the last few years. I left Envato before they set up Elements so I don't have any personal experience to offer, but do consider that the special offer is only for 90 days, and not permanent.

Lots of sites (including Canva; their boost was for 6 months) have used temporary earnings boosts or guarantees to entice contributors into a new royalty model. If you are concerned about your income from that site over the long haul then try to figure out what the income might look like after 90 days.

Yes, Envato owns both. The offer is for 90 days after upload, per clip, but runs until the 3rd of May, so anything uploaded on the 3rd of February or before will get the full 90 day bonus. I'd ignore the estimates they've come up with as I've no idea how they figured those out. Some people earn less than what they do on VideoHive and some people earn more (some considerably more), so it's impossible to give a prediction. However, I've never heard of anybody earning less on Elements and the marketplace combined, than they do just being on the marketplace... so, if you're already on VideoHive, and you're happy to carry on selling there, then it makes sense to join Elements.

The way the email explains it says that my items will be transferred from Videohive to Elements. You suggest that I can continue selling my items on both. Do they let me sell the same item on both platforms?

They will continue to be listed on both platforms ~ however you may find that Elements seriously undervalues your work.

Yeah, they've not worded it very well... it's more of a copy and paste than a cut and paste. And to Mimi... while selling on Envato Elements might undervalue you work with regards to RPD, he'll make more money selling on Elements and VideoHive combined... so while I kind of see your point to an extent... it's slightly paradoxical that undervaluing your work, in this instance, results in your content having more value from a financial point of view.
