Title: Etsy experience and the listing fees
Post by: Artist on February 27, 2017, 03:45
Is there anyone who upload on etsy and can share experience with sales, earnings etc.
I was browsing their website and they not only have listing fees for every item but also many other fees.

You still get to keep much more than you would on a stock site. Although, I'd be worried about licensing there, as there aren't any licenses as far as I know. Yes, you retain copyright of your work... they're not buying the item outright... but in theory, somebody could use your image multiple times for multiple clients, including for uses that would normally require an extended license.

I guess you could stipulate your own license in the item description though... but how would you prove the buyer had read it? Stock sites usually cover their backs on things like that... i.e. here are the licenses, you agree to them whenever purchasing anything here etc etc.

Seems a bit risky for my liking... unless you set the price really high to account for that kind of thing.

I sell there. You have to write your own terms and then in each listing a description. It is a little more involving then uploading to a stock site.
Sometimes people ask questions like how to uzip their files :) or could they use an image for this or that, you get the idea.
Also you should make your titles and tags according to the site rules in order to get found in search.
I don't post the vector images just png and jpg files but some people sell vectors too.
I guess whether you would sell or not depends on what type of images you offer and if they are found.
