I haven't checked in with my Eyeem account for awhile did I miss something with their site being down? The past couple of days I am getting 403 Forbidden when trying to visit the Eyeem website. The phone app shows my images, but when trying to go to the marketplace I am just getting that error message too? I searched google and here for news but am coming up empty.

Ok thank you. I emailed Eyeem support because I have tried on Chrome, FireFox, and Safari on two different computers and my iPhone and I cannot access the site. That or it must be something with my IP address?

I recently began uploading on Eyeem and already have photos selected as Premium. Does it worth uploading there despite the fact that photos have no watermark or protection? If you want to steal the image all you get is 1280 on the larger side but still...What is your advice? Thank you. p.s. I have a very large collection of photos that i would upload that i already have on all major microstock sites and are selling very nice. On Eyeem i would upload about 2-3k which is about 5% of my total photos.

Thank you

I have about 1000 photos on Eyeem and have been their for three years. I  have had four sales. Most of my portfolio has been selected for the premium. Needless to say I don't up load their anymore. For me a waste of time.

i earned last two months 400 dollars from eyeem with 400-500 of my stock photos by getty. I see a good option this company but they must improve the model and property releases system.

i earned last two months 400 dollars from eyeem with 400-500 of my stock photos by getty. I see a good option this company but they must improve the model and property releases system.

the agency part is simply not their priority. They have also been promising watermarks for 2 years and we still dont have them.

It is first of all a photo community. Being able to sell files is an added bonus, not their reason for being.

I like eyeem, it is a very interesting place where you can also offer files other agencies would never take.

But I have given up on them becoming fully committed to selling files. Twenty20 is much more focussed on selling by comparison. It is also an app, a photo community and also not really an agency and you cannot upload releases. But they sell direct, not via distributors and I get a lot more direct monthly sales from them, than eyeem. In total however eyeem outsells them, but 95% of the money comes from Getty, not direct sales.

If you  keep all that in mind and upload content that is suitable for their market niche you can have regular sales on eyeem.

But it is not a place mainstream stock and at least for me, what would usually do well on SS or Adobe, does not sell on Eyeem. So I try to focus on files that only eyeem will take and that works well for me. I get at least 100 dollars a month with around 2000 files in premium. Ive had months with a lot more, but most sales are for 2 dollars, so you cant predict it.

They also dont have a gallery system, so it is actually quite uncomfortable for customers to browse what they have, it is basically keywords only, artists cant organize their port to make it attractive for customers. Twenty20 does a much better job with that. And they have watermarks...

ETA:

I made 8200 dollars so far on eyeem. Been uploading since late 2014, I think.

Can someone explain why the sales to Getty via Eyeem get better revenue instead uploading directly to Getty?

I got few sales on Getty via Eyeem, i was surprised to see that i earned 40 from one single sale  ???

The site is working for me fine, Safari on Mac

I didnt check, because many files are also elsewhere (eyeem is not exclusive) so I dont know if it is a legit sale or not.

However, i simply refused to upload higher quality content and stuck to stuff, where I can live with it, if it gets abused.

In the last two weeks, I have started to upload a bit of better quality content, because I sincerly hope the watermark is coming soon. If it doesnt...then I will go back to lower quality files.

@mysteryshot

do you mean getty or istock?

istock is a subs site, you get sales for 2 cents to 2 dollars as a non exclusive.

gettyimages is macrostock and when I had a house contract sales were between 6 to over 200 dollars, the average was 12-16 dollars. Dont know what it is like now.

since eyeem is on the macrostock site, you will get higher sales, however, less than if you had a direct macrostock contract with getty (because you are sharing 50.50 with eyeem). 90% of my sales are for 2 dollars, but sometimes you get lucky and a larger sale happens.

But at least for me the higher sales seem to be random. It is not like better quality files get higher sales more often. Overall I find it extremly difficult to predict what will sell on eyeem, so I keep uploading a wide mix of stuff.

.

Seems i got a little bit confused Getty>Istock :P, yes you are right!

Well that means Eyeem is to say a backdoor to Getty, since im not a Getty contributor nor do they accept new contributors?

well getty asks for ecxlusivity so in a way if you wanna contribute to getty but dont wanna hold into this kind of agreement, eyeem is a way to go and that is if they accept your pics as premium couse some pics they still put them in the market section .the downside is that if you make a big sale with getty you get close to 100 bucks couse the rest goes to eyeem

Then maybe you should go exclusive if you are doing so well.

95% of my sales are extremly low, but I suppose I dońt have what they want.

Is there a point uploading to Eyeem if I am already uploading to iStock? Isn't it a big problem that they don't have watermarks?

I have around 130 pics on Eyeem, upload around 10 pics each 2 weeks for 16$ sales since 6 months... not worth the effort (for me). Worst with Twenty20 (I deleted my account). I think i will do the same with Eyeem for the simple raison that they dont have watermark...
