This might be a silly question but shouldn't I have received an enhanced licence for the sale of the image? I've only ever had small sales of the particular image.

That depends on what agency the image was brought from, how many copies were printed of that book and what their licence agreement for their standard license says.

Shuttersock, iStock and Adobe for example allow the usage of images for book covers with a standard licese up to 500,000 copies of a book.

Thank you Firn. I've found a few old threads on this same subject and they say the same thing. I can't imagine the book will sell more than 500,000 copies! This particular image has been sold 39 times for a total sum of $20.81. I wonder if they will give me a free copy of the book 😂😂

I guess I should have known this but expected a little more than subscription prices for a book cover.

I don't hurt myself anymore and don't want to be informed about all the abuses concerning my images anymore. I saw enough during years and there is whatever nothing to do, except loosing time, energy and confidence in human being. I prefer be ignorant, it's better for producing more images that will be stolen and sold for pennies penny (-> our future  ;D).

But this probably isn't an abuse? this is (almost certainly) a customer using the image within the parameters of the license. I am not sure what the problem is here...
