I'm no designer, so I don't know; but is it very difficult to make fair trade logo that microstockgroup could let some of the sites display on their site? GL has made their own, but a badge that shows that this site is supported by the microstockgroup could maybe carry some more weight?

The criteria are simple in my book: Minimum 50 % of the sale price goes to the photographer. The sites that qualify are
GL
Yay
Alamy
more?

I looked through my port, and I'm not sure any of my pics are suitable for such a logo. But if one of you designers think this idea is good, you are welcome to use any of my pics (for free of course).

The sites could pay a small fee to microstockgroup, that could be channeled into the Kiva programme?

What if the sales don't always get 50%, e.g. if sold through a distributer?
Would it imply we only wanted our pics to be used by fairly trading companies?

If you can opt out of distributors, it is ok in my eyes.

No implications, it is only a badge that shows that this company is fair to photographers. There are no implications with fair trade coffee either; you don't have to prove you are a good guy to be allowed to drink it.

I would actually go further than only a Fair trade logo. How about an yearly given award.
Like agency of the year voted by MSG members, based on commission, website and image quality. Not only would they get an agency of the year logo, but we the microstock contributing community would have officially an agency to support.  So we would be much more likely to refer this agency to buyers then 20 different agencies which pay a good commssion but are hopeless anyway. We would also know which one we should support most with our images.

I think this forum would have to stay more neutral/ unbiased than that.
Why not start with just the fair trade logo with clear criteria and see how that goes?

That would definately be a start.

I think your idea has considerable merit Gaja __ nice one. As others have said it needs work on the details though.

If you all decide on something, I would be more than happy to design the logo if you want.

I wonder if GL would allow usage of the graphic by other companies.

I just finished reading this text on a Swedish (macro/trad) agency website http://www.johner.se/static.php?menu=about_headings.htm&page=agneta_chronical2.htm
It had some fine insight, too bad it's in Swedish, so most of you can't read it.

ClipartOf is also a 50/50 split, though only sells illustrations.

A somewhat coherent Google translation
