I figure he just hired a web site to be built. And then, didn't force his own pictures, so the site designers used stock.

I find this to be slimy. I would really feel ripped off if I took his workshop and then afterwards found out he hadn't shot any of the images. Why am I paying him to teach me about shots he's incapable of capturing? I'd want to learn from those photographers instead. It reminds me of the time I was interviewing a writer who had one of my ads in his portfolio. Ummmm.....no. No job for you.

Actually, he used his own pictures for most of the other workshops. For those locations where he used Shutterstock photos, he either never visited those places before or didn't have any competitive samples, for an eye catching advertisement.

On the other hand, I agree with you: most probably, he is not personally maintaining his website. He is a photographer after all, busy travelling the world and teaching students about "understanding exposure" and stuff ;) Therefore the technical mistake can most likely be attributed to some tech guy.

But he has certainly seen the website and approved it. He is the ultimate responsible for its content.

I think everyone is a bit hung up on it purely due to the fact it's a photography course. If it was a marketing seminar, a bread baking party, or a swingers event, then would anybody care if the event organiser hadn't shot the photo they'd used to illustrate the country the course is being held in? Probably not.

Hey if I'm gonna attend a swingers event, I don't want any misleading photos!

But was that the case when you submitted your application......as I'm currently vetting it ;-)

It looks like he got the news and removed all stock photos from his website  ;)

His Boston advertisement has no more photos, so I guess his students will just walk and talk  ;) No need for cameras.  ;)
