According to the current poll results, iStock exclusives are now earning only a little more than 50% over what independents are at SS alone.
Hahaha. It dropped after I remembered to input my Feb figures!

Newbie here with less than a year of uploading. February was the first month we didn't see an increase in sales in photography. And our stock footage sales were down substantially, too.

Must mean not too many people are reporting here, I wonder if the minimum number of replies is required for the exclusive numbers?  I don't think I've filled out the poll in nearly a year, when the options get updated to allow more realistic reporting maybe I'll start again.

It is just not getting better in the moment. February is 20% down compared to January and 34% compared to February 2014.

Best four: DepositPhotos, Shutterstock, Zazzle, 123RF

I think most active  big contributors  surpass BME at least 10-15%, everybody is quiet.  8)
I'm more interested in profit than turnover. Elsewhere I read someone saying if you make the effort to do more carefully planned shoots with multiple models, mua, hairdressers, special expensive 'obtain permission' sets etc you'd get sales. Later, when pushed, he admitted he was nowhere near breaking even and indeed might never do so.
I see no point in that. Unless I'm missing something, it's better to make $0 on a $0 cost shoot1 than $950 on a $1000 shoot.  (OK forget the actual figures, as shoot expenses would be a tax expense, so that figure would work out as a positive, but the principle stands.) Assuming that you aren't shooting for another commercial purpose and the micro shots are a side benefit, or can use the images as a portfolio to generate commercial commissions.

1 And better still not to waste the time.

these days...choosing between 7 / 30 hours week on shooting and photoshop for micro
and  flipping burgers ...
option 2 still bring home more money all the time

Now I understand why so many ex microstock photographers work in burgers shops

Seem to be a bug with image subscriptions for me,when i add all individual sales in image subscriptions section( tools contributor)this do not match the amount added in monthly statistic or my daily balance $94 is missing. This seem to be getting worse for February images subscriptions(almost $200) even if the monthly payout is not over yet not adding money properly,so faris this a bug.Anyone else have the same bug.

Just looking at SS, my most profitable agency - its down like 2-3% from last year February. Have not submitted images in years. In fact with the Euro dropping in value compared to the dollar, I am now making more money than last year :-)

So they can save enough money to afford to start doing microstock again?
