Title: find a port on SS with stolen images
Post by: Neirfy on November 25, 2015, 13:15
Hello everybody!
22.11 I find out that my images - croped and fliped - are on  sale at Shuttestock site, but from another port

http://www.shutterstock.com/portfolio/search.mhtml?gallery_landing=1&gallery_id=2788234&page=1&safesearch=1&sort_method=popular (http://www.shutterstock.com/portfolio/search.mhtml?gallery_landing=1&gallery_id=2788234&page=1&safesearch=1&sort_method=popular)

I sent a mail to compliance, asking to get my images out of that port. Also I make a topic on russian contributor forum to let my colleagues know  - and some of them found their images too, and also sent complains to SS.

23.11-24.11 we watched images disappearing from that port, but today afternoon we saw that _all_ images in that port were restored back again!

There are a lot of stuff from different contributors  - may be you will find some pics of yours. If so - please, send a mail to SS too.

P.S. example of my stolen image

I was able to see one about a half hour ago but they're gone now.   The guy had over 1,000 online and from the looks of them, all stolen.

It would be s-o-o-o-o-o interesting to know how something like this is possible at SS.

Keep in mind that Shutterstock has multiple servers providing content.  There will be times when one server is updated but the others haven't seen the changes, so you will get inconsistent results until they sync.  That might have been what happened here.

As an example, after I submit a new batch I go to the Approval Status page to retrieve the image numbers for my records.  Sometimes the batch won't show up until I reload a few times, and other times the batch will show but clicking on it shows no images or only a subset.  Annoying but not a big deal once you know what's going on.

What I mean is, how does someone get in possession of other contributors' full size images?

If it's that easy, I'd expect SS to be full of stolen stuff.  Well, maybe it is.

Isn't that this person who posted here?

If so, they're new - the complaint was I think about having no sales. Possibly they made a stupid beginner mistake - the photos in the portfolio can't have been stolen. I'll cross post in the other thread pointing to this with a note to clean up their act.

Yes, same person.

I just pointed out one of his work. However, if you examine his port carefully, most of his illustrations consist of stolen components. Apparently, he is new to the business, but it's just matter of time that his port will be banned across agencies.

Simple answer to this. Shutterstock don't care at the moment. Every single thing you can possibly think of is right now going wrong over there. As somebody else said in another thread its dejavu IS all over and something like this is probably way down their list of priorities.

IS is reasonably speedy about closing ports in this situation.
From reading here, SS can be tardy, or occasionally trigger fast (even when unjustified).

the system is going crazy now.. regarding the copyright, there are many users who do such things, they copy and build their portfolio to 1000s of design and by the time anyone catches them they earn 1000s $ .. and after that who care about their portfolio getting banned, the loss has happened initially only

Delete all your illustrations. All clip arts are copied from other sources.

I am absolutely amazed that these "illustrations" were approved by SS. Hell in a handbasket.

I'm surprised that any of those images are approved. Time to resubmit all my rejected images.

wow, you read my thoughts exactly... i just commented on the other thread re new images no sales..
of how uploads including clip arts are even approved by ss super sleuth review robots
when even a single re-submitted image is flagged immediately.

while we're talking about the amazing ss f**kups of all history, i also noticed my week has recorded the all time low of 7 days zero sales.
no doubt my portfolio have gone invisible or something.
is anyone seeing the same plight as me???

how f**kedup can we go ??? are we going to see another month of incredible stuff going on
at ss this month too???

forfarksake, iceberg in sight????  alamy, fotolia, whoever... are you capitalizing on this???

This obviously stolen crud sails through inspection, and today I have a half dozen rejections because I used the keyword BURRITO to describe a BURRITO and my non-American (obviously) reviewer doesn't understand that this word is used in AMERICAN ENGLISH to describe a BURRITO.

IT MAKES ME WANT TO USE ALL CAPS.
