Do you still remember feeling when you got your first sale?
I should tell it's great feeling and although I've just made 0.60$ it's still good to know that your pictures could be sold(as I have doubts previously that someone would buy anything).

I have to tell that have sold images before from my own site but selling on microstocks is kind of different so I feel excited when find out that someone choose one from 4 uploaded images on IS  ;D

The problem with a first sale is that it makes you greedy, and you want more, more, more!

And if you make less in the first sale in another site, you will feel bad.

Now you are doomed.  ;D

Adelaide

It was very good feeling (and it's only little more than two months in past for me).

Personally the satisfaction kind of depends on site/price. Not because  the price it self would be that important but because you feel the designer behind the decision. So if someone downloads your picture on SS for 0.25, you know they probably just had one more spare subscription item. Not bad - they chose your picture after all - but not that good either, they were probably just browsing the site, tired, looking for something to download to had the feeling they spent all they had.

On the other hand when you sell XL size on IS, you know that someone decided to pay some $$$ for your particular picture.

And not to mention first extended license sale when you know someone has some special use for your picture.

right now I wouldn't mind to have even single sale on any other site I'm participating even if it would bring less money, I just wish to see that I have selling potential on other stocks too :)
But maybe you're right and if I got less on next sale for same image I would feel bad and think that I should sell it exclusively on IS  ??? ::)

that's the price we have to pay ;D Hope I'm doomed for a lot of downloads of course ;D

so you're not too long in stock photography also, wonder if you got a lot of sales during this period?

I didn't register with SS, so doesn't facing this dilemma yet :)

I wouldn't be able to offer such download even if I can since my camera produce only "Medium" size pictures in terms of IS and picture was downloaded in "Small" size which is middle resolution and not so bad :)

I think I have long way to go for my first extended sale especially that I doesn't upload any pictures last week and my portfolios are really small.

I've only been at it since the beginning of the month, and have only been a member at DT and FT the whole time (just got accepted at IS no photos approved yet, all in the waiting que, denied at StockXpert (sux they give no reasons or a photo by photo breakdown, they just said no), haven't tried SS yet, probably in the next few days, BigStock has had an upload moratorium until today (not at home base right now), and darn 123RF won't send me my initial password, and I'm sure my email is working and that the address I entered is correct, it is on their end).  I've got 20 approved at FT and 30 at DT (some in the que too, probably will have 35 out of the same submissions I got 20 out of at FT).  I've had 5 sales, 1 at DT, just a measly sub, but 4 at FT, to 2 people, both bought the same picture twice, one got the XS and the S of a shot within minutes of each other, another got the S and came back the next day and got an extended, it was my 4th sale.

My first sale was for $600 back in 2001 when a UK paper found 2 photos they wanted on my website.  The money was great and seeing my photos in the paper was good too.

I haven't had a thrill like that with microstock.  Hopefully one day alamy or another higher priced site will do it for me.

wow! 600$ really good cash for photos, congratulations! BTW would you mind to show these  photos?
Feeling of seeing your photo on book cover and in brochure is also great and familiar to me :) Although I sold my photos very cheaply as in times when it happened I photographed not for revenue and was unfamiliar of pricing schemes.

just got another download which was only 0.23$ but I doesn't feel bad actually :)

Wonder for which reason they downloaded so small picture 400x300pixels only, is it for evaluation purposes of for some articles? ::)
