This is a one time deal I am doing here.  Sure I enjoy seeing what others are making, but I do NOT like sharing my earnings with everyone.  However.... I am going to break my rule this one and only time.

My grand total for ALL of the year 2008 from Jan - Dec is a whopping $2,442.72

I really only started in Jan 2008 so this is a pretty good reflection of one year of work.  Now keep in mind that as I learn more techniques and what reviewers want, my photography skills have developed (or at least I hope they have! ;D), and most of this money has been made in the last few months.

I know many of you are like me and don't share revenue, but if you would like to share the revenue you made on your very FIRST year of doing microstock, that would be interesting to see.

As for now..... it's Photoshop time!

Sure, I'll bite. Talking about my first year (which was radically different from last year) doesn't really say much about my current earnings, so why not:

$7,125.01 from May through the end of 2007.

$1100 for the first 12 months. Dragon, you have done well to get so many online in a year

First year I made $7.93, but then in the second year I started to copy of all Seans stuff and haven't looked back since  ;D

Edited: My real answer is - like you pointed out I don't like to share revenue details, but even if I did I'm not sure it would do any good anyway, whether I made $10 or $100,000 would be dependant on what I do and how much time I spend on it, it doesn't mean you'd do any better or worse, I quite often see posts like this on various forums, the only real answer is that you get out what you put in, yes you can make money but it's hard work.

Exactly true. I was already freelance and had enough put aside to devote near full time hours to stock pretty much from the offset.
I don't think I would share my income if I wasn't anonymous (in fact I know I wouldn't as I haven't done it in on any other forums!).

If you're not anonymous then it's fairly easy to work out someone's approximate income anyway.

Really, hope the tax man doesn't find out  ;)

Those number are value-less because there is missing portfolio size. Eg. I have about $330 in first year with aprox 200 pics at SS and DT and 90 at IS.

Had some luck with newbie buyers and larger companies this year .. One actually contacted me saying they needed the high res image .. I emailed back explaining how they could choose the size to download .. they emailed again saying they needed it bigger and wanted to know how much it would cost .. I emailed back that they could download the high-res and then resize it to the size they needed .. they repeated the exact same question .. so I gave them the exact same answer .. they emailed yet again saying how much will it cost me to download it in this size? .. I was getting annoyed so I just emailed them back with my paypal info and told them to send me $200 and I would resize it for them ... Yes I actually got paid $200 to resize one image and email it to them  ;D

When companies contact me through a stock site wanting a custom shoot I bid it high .. sometimes you say I can shoot it in a day for $2000 and they say .. sounds good. I think a lot of people would be surprised if they knew what companies were actually using microstock. Shoot high and if they can't swing it they will let you know and you can come down to their budget.

by the way Helix, I'm an image admin. I've approved a lot of your vectors in the past .. your stuff is always top notch .. havent personally seen much uploading out of you in long time but I still recognized you by name right away .. you need to crank a bunch of fresh work out .. you'd be rockin pretty hard yourself.

Yeah, I've been slacking. But the last few weeks I have been hard at work with some new stuff, so I'm sure something will come across your screen from me again soon. I've been experiencing sticker shock in shopping for my first house, so I need to step it up with new microstock stuff to try and save up some extra cash. :)
