Title: Fotolia permitting Cafepress usage
Post by: RenFromPenn on August 24, 2008, 15:40
Hi,

I already contribute to Shutter and iStock. I was considering submitting my images to some of the other sites, but I have a bit of an issue. In reading the agreement for Fotolia I noticed that users are permitted to use the images at sites like Cafepress. I wasn't pleased with that so I didn't upload.

Does anyone know how the other sites stand on the Cafepress issue?

Ren

Ren,

Unless I'm missing something, a buyer can only use images in resale items if buying an EL, which is I believe the same in all microstock sites.

Do you see anything saying differently in another part of the site?

And fotolia gives one of the higher returns (especially if you are a higher level contributor) on their extended licenses, so it isn't so bad.

I hadn't happened upon the page that you link to. I was reading right from the TOS. From what I saw on Shutter, however, they can't use them at sites like Cafepress. Am I wrong?

Umm.. just had an EL sale in Fotolia and I only got 6.6 for that... too low compared to the $28 in SS... or is the 6.6 a different kind of EL?

what rank are you?  with bronze rank you can set 50$ for EL, with silver rank you can set 100$ for EL (and you get 50+ or 33+% depending whether are you exclusive or not)

I have mine set at 150$ and get nearly 60$ per EL.   That is way more than I get anywhere else.

if you write a message to support they can change your Extended license pricing for all your photos to  the amount you want.  I have mine always set at the max amount.

! or 2 a month but one month I sold 5 :)
I haven't found any difference in how many I sell each time I put the prices up so I would reccomend anybody to put them at the maximum permitted.

I went to the site and I am just at the lowest ranks and the EL price that can be set is 10 - 20 only. It's set at 20 and 33% of that is 6.6.... so that's it then huh?
