Title: Fotolia - where did all the large downloads go?
Post by: PowerDroid on September 02, 2009, 19:53
Anyone else notice their larger downloads at FT go away?

My quantity of downloads seems to be consistent, but I haven't had a sale larger than $0.68 since Aug 29.  Since then, I've had about 60 downloads ranging from $0.32 to $0.68, nothing larger.  Prior to Aug 29, I'd say about half my FT downloads were well over $1.00.

Did something happen right around Aug 29?  Did your larger FT sales dry up over the last several days?

Nope, and nope.  I'm seeing both subs and multiple credit sales both before and after the 29th.

Out of my last 50 sales (which extends back 10-14 days for me):

38 of them were for $0.31, $0.32, or $0.36.
3 were for $0.64.
8 were $1.28 or $1.60.
1 was $1.92.

My RPD in August at FT set an all-time low.  >:(

The title of this thread is misleading.  The large downloads have NOT disappeared.  They just turned into subscription sales. ::)

I cannot complain:

The last 100 sales:
6 XXXL or XXL sales
31 XL or L sales

I'm still getting about the same proportion as before among credit sales.  Subs are becoming more and more popular though.

Same here. Last month I actually had 51% more sales than in Aug 2008 ... but earned only 8% more credits.

My earnings at FT have been in fairly rapid decline since their peak in February although although sales numbers have generally increased.

I remember Oleg saying that they needed to 'target the high volume customers', unfortunately it's starting to look as if it might have been at the cost of the regular ones.

i didnt notice it on FT, but i did on 123 - last month almost all sales were subscription -- i had about the same number of DLs as i have for the past 6 months, but only 60% of the income.

I agree that the proportion of anything larger than S has reduced.  I wonder how many buyers changed from credits to the new full subs packages.

My sales are growing at all my agencies every month and Fotolia is no exception. Still like to make more money though ;D

Best,
