I have a question?

Is it allowed to buy a Rf image and put it on a website as free download?
I checked out a company that bought one of my images at FT, and they offer free wallpapers.
Have not seen mine there yet though :'(  It cant be ok can it?

No it's not.  I believe all license terms are clear about that - images can not be made available or download.

I even remember having read in one of these agreements that images on websites should not be larger than a certain size, even if the buyer purchased it in a larger size.  I guess this is exactly not to allow the use of a high res image simply because a true buyer used it in high res.

BTW, through TinEye I also found one of my images in such a site, but in this case it was a DT thumbnail. I reported to DT and later these images were not at this site anymore. It was strange that this site announced them as "free desktop wallpapers", but all you had access to were thumbs. The site had a log on area however, so maybe members had access to full-size images.

Regards,
Adelaide

It all comes down to the www mentality that anything you see on the web must be free.
they steal royalties from musicians by putting their music on the www
for free, some even selling them on compilation cds.
so it's no surprise they will do the same with photographs.

Ok. So it is in the licence terms. That good.  I guess I still need to check on that website once in a while though.

Some people belive a picture is a picture, and can be upzized no matter of resolution or size.    It actually happens quite often in magazines,  that ads are in 72dpi:)

i think they can if they buy a extended licence??? (I see magazines with 'this month get a 100 free istock images' on the cover cd etc, which is pretty much the same thing, so I assume they have an el licence???).

In this case it was an L standard. And I havent seen it as a free Dl yet.  Its kind of scary with ELs.  Imagine having a bestseller all of a sudden available as free download on some site...
