I didn't sign their NDA so I guess I can talk about whatever it might be (I don't really care honestly, I pulled all my good files from them last year).

My reply to Mr. Brennan:

If this is anything like that "exciting opportunity" last year that now has me earning 10-14 cents on virtually every download, then no thanks.

I was nice enough not to add the "KMA" that I was thinking.  ;)

You pulled your good files and don't upload, then complain about the low income from SS? Is that how to make more in this business? I don't think the terms include a NDA and they can KMA if we aren't allowed to talk about the piss poor pay we get.

No He just runs away from thieves. You might feel comfortable among those. Everybody picks up their choices and companions in this road called life. Good luck to you. You might need it it sticking with that "gang"

The amount of these SS offers I've seen people share this year ( here and other forums ) is actually more scary than all commission changes so far.
Once SS and Adobe launch their free asset collections, it will be the coup de grace for contributors. I hope I'm wrong

Adobe has already launched their free asset collection in 2020.
SS has not announced any plans to launch any free collction at all so far.

That's about to change unfortunately.
It's to be expected, but so far it's still only speculation.

Thanks for this. I am guessing they have made you the offer. As you anonymous are you comfortable discussing the terms? Understand if you are not.

There is a free collection right now.

So Shutterstock are reaching out to their valued contributors to establish deals before they pull the rug on the whole thing and convert their database of images and videos to a completely free site, knowing many will close their ports but there will remain (without doubt) enough stock to offer many thousands of free images and videos while continuing to licence high-quality stock (from their pool of valued contributors who signed a NDA) for premium prices. Basically, Shutterstock will become a hybrid free / premium microstock agency to lure customers and gain market share.  ::)

Yes a collection, but I don't know that they have any free promotion or offers yet? Thank you Farbled:  https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Content+Operations

Note the Affiliate Campaign. Maybe it's not a free collection? But it is an Instant Pay collection, obtained from Wirestock.

Not quite. They paid Wirestock contributors for images. I got $3.82 for one of mine on Instant Pay. Same as the Adobe buys, which are thought to be for one year. I don't know the terms or how long SS gets these images. Best part for me, the one they took was rejected in 2008 by SS for recognizable person or property. Maybe some of the other images, didn't come from Wirestock and did come from within. In which case, SS would have the same image as free and for download? Good reason to bring in outside sourced images.

So far I haven't seen any free program (anywhere) that uses artists images, without permission or advance notice. And I haven't seen any evidence that there's a special group of high-quality people, on SS, being treated differently. These are just the usual leaps from forum rumors and suppositions.

For example, an NDA wouldn't prevent someone who didn't sign the contract, from saying there were contacted, or what was offered?  :)
