Title: German agencies
Post by: HappyBunny on October 01, 2018, 06:43
Is it worth it to upload to German agencies if I do take German food photos? If yes, which ones are the best? Do I have to duplicate images and write title and keywords in German language.

I'd avoid Panthermedia horrible interface I never sell and they talk as if they are some big time agency. Haven't uploaded there for ages.

Don't forget German agencies like Zoonar take 30% tax off your sales.  You can only avoid it by getting an exemption certificate from the German tax office.

There's also Clipdealer, which doesn't actually pay out earnings even though their terms say they do it within two weeks. Agencies in Germany are a veritable shitshow.

Eyeem has a horrid interface but I keep plugging away as the odd sale does get a decent amount. Its a bit different from the "norm" and I think it may be growing...though I've not sold enough to know.

I avoid all german agencies…
I never understood why the owners of most of them are always so rude and unfriendly
(Or maybe it is just an impression because of a question of language/translation?)

Doesn't Eyeem upload to Alamy? They are not a German agency are they? I thought that maybe some German companies do prefer to deal with a German speaking agency rather than an English speaking one.
Do agencies like Zoonar provide the tax form on their website just as SS etc. do? I don't really want to waste my time with non selling agencies. I just thought that maybe the German food images would maybe sell better on a German website. They don't sell well on the other websites but maybe that's because the food is the speciality of only one country.

I give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are just "direct" If they actually sold images I wouldn't care how rude they are.

Eyeem upload to Getty so an interesting route to get images for sale there. I suspect Eyeem is a market place for more "non standard" stock fare.

You are right Pauws99. They are more direct. More to the point and time saving. However, I got a really rude email from Westend61. And no,  I'm not angry because I didn't get in. Zoonar wrote a very, very kind reply.  It's a different writing style. To British ears German language sounds very hard even if they speak English. However, I find them to be completely rude in German shops. I understand that they might not like to do this low paid job but I really hate going shopping in Germany.
