Hi, I've only been uploading to MS sites for about 1/2 month.  I have from 20 down to 8 images on sites depending upon their review and acceptance rates.  I have very few views and one download.  I understand that I am competing with 1,000,000 other images on most of these sites for view time.

What has been your experience in getting views/downloads (besides worthy photos)?  Is it a numbers game and I need 100's on a site before action starts?  Is it a key word game and I need to make sure I have 50 to 70 keywords per photo?  Is it something else?

Thanks for your input.

Fred

I would sudjest posting a photo or two in the critique section along with their keywords.  We might be able to come up with a few sudjestions.

It isn't directly a numbers game i don't think, however more images helps.  If you have stunning images, and good keywording, people will find them and buy them.

Hi, Fred--interesting question. I'm a relative newbie, too. But I've been doing it for about a month and a half and have between 40 and 190 images online now (the disparity on numbers depends on the site--DT being the lowest, and FP being the highest). Using DT (Dreamstime) as an example I've found the number of views has little to do with the number of downloads. I have one image that's been viewed 45 times on DT and no download (it has "rose" in the title), and several images viewed once or twice before it was donloaded. I think designers do a closeup view to decide if the image meets their needs. Some of my images have been downloaded within minutes of appearing on the site--others have been downloaded for the first time weeks later. As for keywords, they really should be descriptive of the picture in order to insure designers will even view it--I seldom have more than 20 keywords.

Some of my images have sold more than 10 times or more spread over the various sites I submit to, others not at all. The numbers game is in the number of uploads you have. You never know what will click with the designers, so get as many up as possible.

Good luck!

Here's my basic starting collection.  There is a similar set with one or two differences on four other sites.

Anyway, going forward I'll take some more "stock" shots when doing my regular around the place photography.  If you want to view and comment that would be great.
