Why not ask Getty, either through customer service or in the forums? Issues around copyright are constantly changing and being updated, perhaps they fell foul of one of those changes but the only way to find out for sure is to ask the company themselves.

For sure, photos have been removed, and contributors don't get any notification about it, or why it was deemed necessary. There's a thread about it in the Discussions forum.

First page of the discussions forums. (not allowed to post a link, but it's pretty obvious by title)

Unfortunately I get content (photos) removed from time to time. Usually IP related. It sucks I know.

pretty much whatever SS did to rip you off, Istock/Getty did 5 years ago and more - 15% to artist - check, sales lower than a penny - check, not reporting sales for up to 2 months, opaque reporting system....

why u say this?

Because they pay $7 for a 4K video, some of the lowest commissions I have ever seen for non-subscription. Their valuation of 4K video is a joke.

In general, 15% commission for videographers, slow and opaque royalty reporting, what you sell on the 1st of the month, will be paid out the 25th of the FOLLOWING month...It's laughable, and by supporting Getty/Istock, you're facilitating the abysmal treatment of contributors. And I won't even get started about the commissions for photos, which can go as low as 1 ct.

After their commission cuts, I decided to delete my videos there, and this month I closed my Istock account for good after 10+ years.
