One of buyer in my site wants to buy 300 image in small size. At the beginning he wants %50 discount which makes $1 RPD per image. After making some bargains he offer $400 and i told him 450. now deal stuck for 50$:(
if i accept 400 RPD per images makes 1.33$ which is more than most of agency i make for a small image except Alamy.

While i am dealing with him knowing that there is option that he can buy all my portfolio in XXL around 250$ with subscription makes me crazy >:(

What do you think, must i accept his offer?

There are sites that they sell same size for 1$ which make 300 images for 300$.

What type of license are you proposing to him? This is the key question.

I ask this because if you giving him a traditional RF image license, that implies that in the micro business he would have to buy an EL for each image. For example in SS he would have to pay thousands of dollars, earning you more than $8000.

If you're willing to grant a traditional RF license to him, this could be a very good selling argument. Just show the advantages of it and how much 300 images would cost, even in micro. In fact, by those standards $450 is a giveaway...

If he goes micro and then use the images outside the license contact the agency to charge the excess. I've been paid by SS when they detect uses outside the license and the buyers get the lawyer call...

If his offer doesn't cover your time and expenses, then WALK.

I recently read a post on Google+ where a photographer made a deal to a bar owner for a poster for the bar.  He offered the poster to the owner for $50 because he liked the guy.  After he had the poster printed, he went to the bar to deliver it himself.  The owner told him he wouldn't pay more than $15 for it because his printing cost was about $5 and it shouldn't have taken him more than 10 minutes to edit the image.

That poster got torn up in front of the bar owner.

Don't sell stuff just for the sake of selling stuff.  Price it like you're running a business and don't be afraid to walk away from a bad deal.

That is his negotiating card, then.

No it can not be his negotiation card.
He can not buy my images in this size cheaper than 2$ except Subs.

@ ayzek - I don't get what you're moaning about, you sell your images on a subscription site, presumably Shutterstock, where this buyer could get all 300 images for $250 and you'd get $114 in commission (if you're on the highest rate there) and here he is offering you $400 in your pocket for the same images, seriously take the money.

Why are you bringing Alamy into the conversation?

I'm guessing by your use of the word 'hate' in the title you're not happy that your images are available on subscription sites - easy answer then isn't it, take them off, nobody is forcing you to sell them for subscription.

i am already confused and Alamy sales double this.

Know that nobody is forcing me but after 5th month as an independent i realize that i need subscription sites to live as independent.
My 2nd(shutter) and 3rd best(123rf) seller haven't got an opt-out option for subs sales.
if they have opt-out option which not effect best match you can be sure that i will Opt-out.

Accept $400 before it's too late.

Does the guy know how much of a pain it would be to get a subscription and then try to remember to log in every day to get the daily quota and how long it would take? unless he has a lot more time than money, paying a few extra hundred $ to you would be well worth it.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be persuaded into giving a discount that I didn't think was fair. Sure, they could buy all the images from SS for cheaper, but that doesn't mean you want to offer the same prices as SS.

Since you are probably not going to be selling the same volume as other agencies, it doesn't make a lot of since to compete with them at their lowest prices. I don't even offer the smaller sizes on my site. It just seems too tedious to make a dollar at a time with the volume of traffic my site receives.

That's just my opinion though.

And again we're on the license field again... Alamy is more expensive but the license is real RF, not limited RF like in micros where you must buy a series of EL to have the same rights of use.

Set what type of license you want to give and justify the price from there.

The License is the DNA of the stock industry and what justifies the prices we may charge for an image, besides it's a great selling argument.

i was thinking like you at the beginning for xsmall and small size. i put them there only for providing more options to buyer.

XPTO, i didn't know that there is different RF licenses. thank you for explanation.

While i was thinking to accept his offer i got a mail that he is asking how he can get discount coupon so i hope that he is going to accept my deal.
