I mean we are probably all looking for something to save us time,
but I don't know if decent as Alexandre Rotenberg says is okay or if it just is an easy fix to make us feel relaxed and spend less time on tagging.

PhotoTag seems to be best piece of software out there for this purpose from what I've researched.

In addition, according to the programmer the code is constantly being improved and soon they will have videos.

It will save you time but works best for still life and simpler concepts, not great for more complex subjects such as editorials and travel. Another con is that the maximum image size is 20MB which means having to downscale many of your images to be able to upload.

They allow 3 images a month for free so would suggest everybody try it out and see results for themselves.

90% of my images are similar to previous uploads and as I use Microstock+ I can copy all keywords, titles, categories etc from previous uploads with 2 mouse clicks....

A couple BIG critisisms:

(a) No way to sign up with just an e-mail. Looks like the dev took the super lazy way and "authenticates" with google/facebook/github. If someone doesn't have any of those accounts - no way to sign up for the service, not to mention - many people (including myself) just don't feel comfortable USING a "google/facebook" account to "create" an account. (privacy is one of those reasons among others). Big no-no. So no way of signing up with just an e-mail.

(b) He doesn't specify how much credit packages cost.

(c) His online chat bot isn't actually connected to anyone - so asusming he is sleeping right now - so if you try to message, just says "failed to send"...

So... it "might" be good, but obviously still needs a lot of work right now.

I got in touch with the developer at Phototag.Ai with these concerns and he's trying to be accepted at the MSG forum and it's still pending. In the meantime he has replied the following:

"Hello! I’m Aaron, one of the developers responsible for PhotoTag.ai. First of all, thank you for the constructive feedback! We’re constantly listening to our members and implementing improvements based on their feedback. Here are some specific responses to your concerns:

(a) I promise the decision to only include OAuth login options was not out of laziness, we felt that improvements to the user experience outweighed any other drawbacks. Also, we only use these platforms to retrieve your email address and authenticate your request. That being said, we’ve received a few complaints about the lack of email sign up (so you’re not alone on that), and we’re actively working on implementing that feature! I expect it’ll be live before next week.

(b) Good point that the one-time photo bundle prices are not on the landing page - we’ll have to update that. The prices are $19.99 for 1,000 photos and $149.99 for 10,000 photos.

(c) I’m sorry your message didn’t go through on our chat. I’ll be reaching out to our provider to see why that happened. Please bear with me if I take some time to respond because I’m actually the only person actively monitoring those messages! But I promise I always answer any messages that come through."

(a) Yes - while it seems he is aware, and working on e-mail - which is good - further to that, many people don't trust OAuth/equivalent types of authentication, misuse of data by google/facebook/etc (not too sure about github), so just don't trust that in general. Corporations don't do that out of the "goodness of their heart" - generally speaking there is always some kind of data mining involved, and you don't know how they've implemented things on their end. (They can 'say' one thing, but then do another - and unless you reverse engineer their scripts/etc - you really don't know). So yes, as a generally rule - don't like those kind "easy authentication" methods... (just like facial rec is actually very bad for a number of reasons, has nothing to do with 'safety' & 'security', etc).

(d) Also - he should have an e-mail contact on his contact page, in case things like the online chat don't work. If you weren't in touch with him - there would be no way he could have gotten this feedback...

Another thing I thought of...

While the VIP trends seems "nice" - main reason it exists obviously is so other people can "copy" what is working - and I don't really like my data being used to create new competition for myself...

I.e., let's say I found something really good that works... if the "trends" goes up - then all of the sudden people wanting some quick $$$ then want to jump on the 'trending keywords', making (potentially) more competition for myself that was totally unnecessary...

Is there a way of opting out of having data that is used in processing keywords, to opt out of the 'trending data'?

I tested it and it did very well, so I signed up.

However, now I have 400 images a month, or so I thought. However, each time I make a change and generate the keywords again, it uses another credit. One image has cost me 4 credits because I wanted to tweak the results.

It's very misleading to say that you have credits to keyword 400 images a month, when that isn't really the case.

A few thoughts on keyword tools.

I myself do this mainly by hand. I click on suitable suggestions in Shutter and then think about what else I can add here. I often use google or wikipedia for research (sometimes I get lost in a topic, so it's also good for general education

At least with the agencies that allow conclusions to be drawn about keyword searches by buyers, I know that my approach has led to sales that I wouldn't otherwise have had.

For example, I have been regularly selling pears on a tree at all agencies for years (the reason for this remains my trade secret, but I have read and learned a lot about pears

).

So if everyone edits their banal images using the same keyword tool (e.g. pears on a tree or a beach with palm trees), all users would have to be suggested the same keywords, which is of course not conducive to sales at the end of the day.

It's a program I originally created for my own use, so I designed it to fit my workflow.

When I saw that it was saving me a lot of time, I decided to try to offer it commercially.

It can generate keywords with AI neural network in great detail - there are over 7000 words in the dictionary (everything is offline without having to upload photos anywhere to the cloud).

And it has other useful functions for searching photos, copying and sorting keywords.

It can be used for free with some limitations or paid with no limitation.

So maybe some of you might find this tool useful.
