Title: Hello! And a few questions ;-)
Post by: t_rust on December 11, 2006, 18:33
Hi All,

I am reading this forum for quite some time now and it’s a great place for independent info. I am submitting to microstock pages for almost a year now. Think it is time to review my strategy.

Are there any other microstock sites worth submitting to?
Currently I am on SS (40%), DT (20%), IS (20%), FL (10%), BS (10%) . % of earning in brackets.

What about Alamy? Can I submit the same photos that I have on the micros? Is it worth the hassle with sending in CDs?  Would be great if anyone had an indication on $ per photo per year for Alamy.

Thanks,
T

Most of all, StockXpert! About other sites, most are not yet near those in earnings, but experiences here vary a lot.

I'll second stockxpert.  I signed up with them about a month ago and sales are going fairly well.  Will definatly take the time to put the rest of my portfolio up with them

I would try stockxpert.  income is good and uploading is simple.

I would also add 123RF as they are easy to upload to - sales not as good. about same as BS for me.

The others aren't worth it unless you really want to add another.  Maybe Featurepics - sales aren't great but they are a site everyone wants to do well since they pay a good commission.

I haven't tryed Alamy so cant comment.

You could submit to Alamy as long as they were Royalty free though you need an 8mp camera (I think) as you need to up size to about 3433 x 5150 pixels.

FP is a good choice also - hopefully it had a good future.  I like having the choice of choosing my price, so I can put images there that I wouldn't put in microstock sites.  Sales are slow, but at least for me better than CanStockPhoto and better than the latest months at 123RF.

Can you look at my portfolio and suggest which ones i should send in to try again?? Thanks

I agree with SX, it's up to 10% for me this month so far.

I uploaded my first batch to StockXpert via FTP today. Wow, the user interface is unique. I hope I got it right, but the bulk editor is great! Let's see how it works out.

Is there any "submit button" ... or do I just wait?! I transferred the photos from the " briefcase" into a "briefcase sub-folder" and assigned categories via the bulk editor. That's it?

If it is really that simple, I will have all my images up in no time  :)

Thanks again for pointing out StockXpert!
Regards,
Thorsten

yeah it is really that simple.  it is great.

If you go to 'my account' you can see how many pending images you have.  That way you can check if they are in the cue or not.

Wow, it's great. My first FTP batch at StockXpert has been reviewed within 12hrs and acceptance was around 80%. Also had 2 sales already. I always thought it would be a great hassle to upload all images to a new place. Not there.

Realy don't want to imagine how much time this would take at IS  ;)

Thanks again.

I agree with the rest.  For me, SX is better than DT with half the number of photos.  I am a bit more sceptical about FP.   I had 100  percent acceptance rate, no sales, but that would be ok... except I see a lot of real junk on there that would not fly anywhere else.  And, unfortunately, I think that the junk is a big turn off for designers.  Instead of reviewers filtering out the junk, the designers have to do it.  But that´s my opinion.  I think most of you would agree that quality on FP varies from ridiculous to sublime (as do the prices).
