Title: Help with payments from Paypal
Post by: Brightontl on April 29, 2016, 06:01
Hi all,
I have over $1.000 in my PP account coning from stock payments.
I have been trying to withdraw it, but I just cannot do it as apparently my account is limited.
The PP website seems like a minefield of bugs, any action I do it say: this is temporarily not working. No explanation whatsoever about the reason why my account is limited.
I have been trying to contact them for a week by phone, mail or message. They simply do not reply.
I have googled about Paypal and there are thousands of reviews saying that they are fraudster and to stay away from them.
Can anyone help me to understand how I can lift the limits in my account and maybe recover my money?
Do you use PP to get paid by stock agencies or would you suggest another way?
Many thanks

I always use paypal. Touch wood (knock knock) I've never had any problems and my money gets transferred into my back account within seconds after clicking withdraw.

My guess is that you haven't completed all the registration details with Paypal. Do you have a bank account setup with them?

I wouldn't worry. The money is there for u. Really bad they haven't contacted you back though.
Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.
I was a PP user many years ago, but haven't used in the last 6-7 years.
Recently I have received my payments from stock agencies into PP, so money has been piling up there.
I have updated my profile with new address, bank account and telephone, they sent me codes for bank account and telephone which I have entered. But still I cannot withdraw any money.
Their website is totally useless, it does not explain in any way why my account is limited or how to lift the limit. Any thing I do I get a message: temporarily not working.
Most worrying, I have been trying to contact them by mail, message, phone, messages in a bottle. Absolutely no reply.
Even worse, I have done a google search and there are thousands of message reporting PP as fraudsters

I've been getting regular payments from stock sites since 2005 and only ever once had a problem which was  sorted and was something that I had done wrong by mistake. I managed to get through on the phone to sort it out so be persistent.

They are definately not fraud.

Anyway, a few months ago, when my money traffic through paypal surpassed 2500$, I got notice from them, that they will limit my account if I dont provide some sort of ID in certain period of time. It has something to do with some European law about  money laundering. Maybe you should check if your limitations has anything to do with that...

Thank you guys for the replies.
The problem is that I have no way to know where the problem comes from.
The website is totally useless and they don't answer messages, mails or phone calls.
In their website I do not see anything referring to ID

Has your bank account been verified?  I seem to remember them taking a small withdrawal from my bank into my paypal acct before I could make any transfers.

And your bank is not located in a restricted country is it?

I only had problems with PP when I hadn't properly added my debit card and bank account details, it was last summer and they were easy to contact back then to sort everything out..

I agree with Pixart regarding the verification of the bank account. They would have sent you an email - check your Junk mail folder.

I have never had any issues with Paypal and never heard of anyone else having issues. Most people here are probably using Paypal.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Here an update:
at the beginning my profile was at about 30% complete.
Then somehow I managed to add and confirm my mobile phone and it went up to 40%.
Then I added my bank account and entered the code they sent me, my account went to 60%.
Then I added my credit card and it went up to 80%.
I feel that I am almost getting there. The force is with me!
Can anyone tell me what the last 20% can be? Maybe they will send another code tonight during a dream?

Lana, when you entered your debit card, did you have to enter another code, apart the one from the bank?
This could be the missing link

10-15 years ago, PayPal developed a bad reputation for freezing accounts and claiming that the earnings were due to fraud. However, they're reputable these days and I don't have most of the concerns I used to have with them. Being owned by eBay helps.

However, I'm still loathe to directly connect my bank account to my PayPal account.  It's probably paranoia, but I was able to work around it. After hunting around, I discovered that I could still access my funds directly if I converted my account to a Business Account. Business Accounts receive a PayPal Visa debit card. You might try doing that.

sounds like a nightmare you have here with paypal..
I also have just 80% of my PP profile complete (I have no clue what is missing), but it's working just fine. I am a bit surprised they won't reply to your e-mails, whenever I had problems, they replied after a few days.
I hope you will sort it out in the end.

Hi Brightontl, sadly I must say that I fully understand you, because I'm in the same boat.

You, your story, other complaints and my own experience inspired me to open a new topic about Paypal behavior, and to warn people to not trust in Paypal.
I'm sorry for you and wish you resolve your problems ASAP.

Please read this topic, I wrote a lot and didn't want to spam here by repeating

Don't trust in Paypal - your account can be limited without any evident reason:

Have you tried phoning them? They may be able to just tell you what the problem is?

if a pp account is stale for 7 years and then all of a sudden become active, alarm bells go off, nothing fraudulent from paypals side, they are just protecting your account for possible take over. bad thing they dont respond, but if you can prove everything is legit, they will release your account to you, no sweat

I called them two weeks ago for help setting up a PayPal Now account and got through by phone immediately, then called back some days later after I received the little gizmo for help in checking that it worked properly got through right away again, and they walked me through it, easy. Surprised you can't reach them by phone.

There are so many regulations in place these days to prevent fraud, which they need to follow, it can cause some issues but can usually be resolved with a phone call - hope you get through.
Good luck.

My experience with PayPal has been positive & I've been with them since around 1999. As some have said, usually these things get resolved pretty quickly. Don't fear, you money is safe. It'll work out.
