These are probably the worst photos I've ever had to look at.

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a  dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery and starved him to death.

For several days, the 'artist' and visitors to the exhibition watched this defenceless animal die a horribly slow and painful death.

Unbelievable as it sounds, another identical exhibition is planned for 2008.

There are two things that really get my Irish up and that's cruelty to children and animals. Worse, to legitimize it by calling it art? People like these are the reason I think the stocks should be brought back as a form of public punishment.

I don't know who is more stupid , the idiot calling himself artist or people that visited that sick show and did not do nothing.
I think petitions don't help to much in cases like this , obviously the law wherever that was held allow that .

I wish I had 2 minutes to play a little game with that Guillermo , I think he would change his mind.

Check these sites out. It's not clear that this story is real - there are lots of urban legends floating around the net:

If in fact it's a publicity stunt by a shameless artist - pretending that he starved a dog to death even if he didn't - it's just about as despicable as if he actually did it. Don't feed this jerk's quest for publicity any further.

"Animal lovers and rights activists have claimed that the dog died from starvation after the show, but Juanita Bermudez, director of the gallery, insists that Natividad was untied at all times except for the three hours the exhibition lasted, was regularly fed by the artist, and escaped after a day. Vargas said that the piece meant to test the public and that none of the exhibition's visitors intervened to help the animal. He would not reveal whether the dog lived through the exhibition, but did say he has received dozens of death threats."

Why won't he confirm of deny that the dog lived or died? We know why of course and no surprise the gallery is claiming otherwise because we know full well animal rights activists have plenty of petrol is why!!

Disgusting and the worst artistic sickness I see. He's not an artist, he's a boner who think he's an artist

It's not real. The dog wasn't harmed. Read the links above.

So after the dust is up , they have a new story about how dog escaped away from there , with no prove that he is alive. If it was they would find him in no time , or offered a reward so someone would find him for them. Then again , it was all about pointing on a problem on other starving dogs.

There are also children starving in the world , so whats next , should we chain a child and starve it to death to make a point , or there a women being abused all around , so should someone beat his wife to death in a museum to point that fact or make a performance in the street and rape someone to make a point ? Art ?

I still wish his next show will involve him and few unchained starved pittbulls

well if it is in an area where there are lots of wilddogs.. and some cities are full of them... i dont image the found dog would be too healthy when it was found for the exhibit.  Additionally if it is one of those towns full of dogs, it would be pretty hard to find one wild dog in the midst of 1000

You are probably right Leaf. But anyway I think that taking an unhealthy dog and making an exhibit from him is displaced (good word?). And more, having hundreds of dogs dying in the streets is also a big problem itself.

So taking time to put a dog in a freek show and not taking the time to help any of them show that there's some values that this peoples don't have

Wasn't there just a huge ad campaign done with photos of a nude "anorexic" woman who looked much worse than this poor pooch?

It was to shed light on the disease.

Maybe he is an attention seeking sicko copy-cat? Maybe we could tie him up by a certain body part along with the starving animal the next time and see who wins.

Some so-called artists say the role of art is to cause a reaction. If so, he suceeded. Unfortunately this definition makes all kind of barbarian attitude "art".
