Where do you find that information without sitting looking at the little map all day?
-
Point that appears in map is so big that I wouldn't recognize if it's Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg in two seconds. Do you put tracing paper with map of World on monitor?
-
Mine pretty much agree with OP. Add India and Turkey.
Also, as mentioned, it really depends on the accuracy of the marker and my interpretation of where which country is.
Map could be less generic ... but, accuracy would require much more detail and take forever to load.
-
about 99% of my sales come from Rothschild Island...
-
Comoros islands
-
Life's too short ...
-
I was going to put down 'Texas' since they want to become their own country within the United States...
-
Why not just ignore the OP post if you have nothing significant to offer?
To Belittle is to
Be Little.
-
You calling 'Texas' little! Just busting on you guys! All I can say is that during the USA holiday of Thanksgiving I had zero sales on Shutter thus telling me how important the United States is in my portfolio...
-
i think this is very interesting and (to my shame) only just realised what the map meant.... (not even a bit blonde), so this post is timely (for me).
I found it interesting that the bulk of mine sell to Europe and not the US. makes me sure to spell keywords properly. :D
Mostly UK and what looks like Portugal but probably not? I've sold more of "xmas balls on the beach" into Europe than aust, which is interesting too.
-
It' sounds funny but here are my top countries (from what i can see when i check my account) :
1. USA
2. Cape Verde - (a small archipelago with only 500.000 residents) i get lots of EL'S, OD ,SO and course subs. The sales are spread across all my portfolio.
3. UK
4. Europe
5. Brazil
6. Russia
-
Europe, especially UK and Germany, but not France.
North America.
Brazil
Russia
Japan + Oceania
-
1. North america (I guess mostly USA and some Canada)
2. Brazil
3. Europe, mostly the northern territories.
4. Asia

My sales are pretty well all over but I've noticed that certain images sell better in different parts of the world.
The SS map is great and wish other sites had something similar.

its a nice feature but I don't shoot this or that thinking of where it will sell, I would prefer to see a list of countries, anyway it doesn't help us on selling more, its just a cool thing at 1st but now we don't even look there much

Agree. A list would be much better. I hardly pay attention to the map and I wonder how accurate it is anyway.
-
Everywhere and anywhere but surprisingly the closer to home,
the fewer the sales. I'm a landscape opportunist. Mainly outdoors
looking for unusual, less mainstream subject matter.

Unfortunately, when it comes to stock photography, it is the usual, highly mainstream subject matter that actually sells. To make money you need to shoot the same mainstream stuff as everyone else __ only a bit better.
-
Gostwyck, you are on a roll today. I am finding myself agreeing with everything you're saying. I've boosted your +1 total by quite a bit. Gotta stop now before you get a swelled head ;D
-
I don't watch the map enough to have a clue, but what would be nice is to pick an image and see its sales across the map. Otherwise I'd rather see stats by region in numerical form so we might see trends more readily

Me too, I seem to end up giving hearts to half of his posts.

I don't think that is actually Cape Verde. The images have a small white circle on the top left to pinpoint the location. Locations that they can't track seem to show up exactly in the middle of the map with no white circle, which just happens to be where Cape Verde is.
And back to the main topic:
1. USA
2. Colombia
3. Brazil

I think you should have stated "to make more money".....I see continual
month to month growth in income as my portfolio increases. I agree that better mainstream images provide the best income but a steady growth in income can still be achieved with less popular subject matter if its done professionally.
-
Mainly northern Europe and the "Scandinavian" parts of USA, otherwise scattered around the globe. I have one picture of a Norwegian garden that almost only sells in India.
-
Thats interesting.
Maybe we should take a look at those pictures that only sell at certain places.

Don't let them fool you. We aren't leaving the US anytime soon. ;D
