Jason Lanier is now called a man who prey on young girl (models) at his photo shoots.  What do you think?  Is he setting examples on being a straight up photographer at his workshops?  Thanks

Firstly never heard of the guy.

Secondly I despise internet gossip and how its used to wreck people's lives.

If he did any thing wrong then it's up to the legal system to prove or disprove.

What a coincidence. I organized a lighting workshop last Friday and he was the speaker. He mentioned this - he seemed genuinely honest that he has been subjected to a several year attack from another photographer (known as the Angry Photographer I think) and his response was that he would be happy for someone to file a charge against him if they think they have a case. All the internet innuendo and claims are so easy to make and so difficult to dispel.

Well said, Sammy Cat.

ETA: Having said that, I got curious and Googled the guy's name. The following link goes to the most informative piece I found:

http://taipeigeek.blogspot.com/2018/05/jason-lanier-removed-as-sony-artisan.html

I'll leave it up to others to decide for themselves whether this overload of background information, videos, and comments "proves" or "disproves" the accusations against Lanier.

But let me say this, as an older woman who was young and cute a long time ago, I'm fully in line with those today who say: "Believe the women."

I wasn't going to write what I thought, but since you did and Martha added links. It really looks like a petty facebook feud, fueled by followers and people who have nothing better to do than start a big gossip battle. Now if he did it, fine, then he's a jackass, if not, just an example of social media gone astray. Also looks like he was using wannabe models that are disgruntled because they didn't find the fame they thought would come from working for him.

My first impression of the question was, who cares? Some FB guy who plays up his notoriety, most of it self manufactured, or from his groupies. Working for clicks and views, while he sells his workshops. A big pretender, living from Internet fame.  :)

And there is the crux of the problem.

People's lives are wrecked online and in some cases in the real world because of
accusations which if taken thru the legal system would get thrown out.

A "several year attack" is beyond belief but that's how easy it is these days to take
vendettas in to the public arena.

The world (at least in the West) has become a modern day Salem witch hunt on steroids.

I looked up the angry photographer and I see he seems to have had a thing over Lanier dropping Nikon a few years back

In the old days these people would be shouting on street corners and getting sympathetic looks from passersby now they have instant access to the world.

And the world is poorer and more miserable because of it.

The world might be a little worse or miserable but
Views and comments generate revenue... :/

Youtube and internet drama is common nowadays.
Although a video guy, due to dslr video shooting
i watched lots of photographers on Youtube.
At first, even "weird" ones, standed for an opinion
and offered some info, techniques, tips and tricks.

Nowadays, gear is King and drama covers the luck of subjects to talk about.

No wonder why no new creators and work appear, rather than entertainers no matter
if they call themselves photographers or videographers or masters of the universe.

Some really good photographers exist,
talking the philosophical aspect of the art,
but they are really few.

Now on, instead of googling randon names and stories,
I prefer to render one more clip for stock...
:D
