Title: How important is copyspace?
Post by: Whiz on July 09, 2008, 12:45
I know that with iStockphoto buyers can search for their preferred method of copyspace, but does it make that much of a difference in sales? Just curious.

I do not find that it matters for food images.

For anything isolated on white it's irrelevant.

For images with a background, how it works for a designer is a big deal in the usability of the file. One of the elements is having some space for copy; another is how the image is cropped. I've read many times that having an image cropped on more than one or two edges makes it harder to incorporate into a design.

We also provide a similar function called Freerange in our Expanded Search. ;)    It is very relevant and used often by buyers.
