Is it better to put less keywords? What is your strategy? I kept using close to the maximum but I read it is worse....so I would like to hear your opinion. :-))

Thank you!

My strategy is quality over quantity.  I generally do two groupings of relevant keywords; first ones that relate to whats visibly in the image, then a grouping of relevant conceptual keywords.  Often I'll have around 15-20 keywords when Im done.
I like using the findphotokeywords.com site a fair bit to help speed up the process.

It depends on the site, and it depends on the image.

In the past, the microstocks accepted just about anything and as a result their archives are full of images stuffed with irrelevant keywords.   Keyword spamming worked for the contributor, but aggravated buyers, so the agencies have started clamping down on it. In the future, I think (hope) new agencies, starting fresh, will have much stricter keyword policies, and I'll want to submit to them, and I won't want to have to re-keyword all my images to do so.  So I'm being conservative with keyworrds.

I am using keywording page from Yuri so I think I am close to current trends for a subject :-) I am selecting images that are visually similar to mine and then uncheck keywords that are irrelevant from suggested top 50. I tend to have around 30

I use that too but have started to lean more on the ProStockMasters help.

I'm too new at this to offer a definitive answer.  I've heard from Admins's at DT that anything more than 15 is a waste and can reduce your placement in a search????

I struggle to find any more than 15-20 keywords in total, whether relevant or conceptual for some images but with others I can't stop writing. I agree with Mr Lock, it depends on the site and the image and whilst I grab all the help I can, it's one of those things that comes with practice. I generally look at other images on stock to see if I'm missing something obvious/useful.

Istock is the pickiest of the bunch and will readily reject a submitted image if the reviewer finds a couple perceived irrelevant keywords.  If oyu submit to Istock, get the free Deepmeta software for managing and submitting photos to Istock.
