Everything is confessed here by Apple in this new advertisement.
But it seems that they have decided to abandon its broadcast. This undoubtedly betrays the discomfort of having demonstrated honesty and sincerity with this particularly dystopian message.
But it's still online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntjkwIXWtrc

We of course all have in mind the famous Apple advertisement of 1984, 40 years ago already...

Apple has a long history of supporting the creative community, one of it's base core constituencies.  I don't think this is so much a dystopian aspirational confession by Apple as it was a tone deaf ad agency that misread the message Apple was trying to convey when they were scripting this up.

That message being -  they are really really proud of how thin the new iPad Pro is..

Personally, I got a bit of a chuckle out of it... the idea certainly missed the mark (badly) but the piece was executed well...  Pretty sure it's primarily CGI.  Apple issued a (rare) immediate apology and pulled it - which I think was genuine.  Was surprised that one made it out the door, TBH...  The agency in question likely just lost the account.

That was definitely something - especially with the little thing's eyes bulging out near the end.  Made me laugh.  Definitely made their point that the new iPad is very thin but not sure why anybody would want to buy one.

yes, definitely a visually disgusting ad. btw, it's funny - after they got rid of steve jobs - the "innovation" (at least for consumer products for iPhones/iPads) has been next to nil. who cares about 1mm 'thinner', etc?

Thinner, lighter, and for only $1,000 or $1,300 we could have the latest model that we don't really need? This is the usual Apple business churn, driving people to buy new models. Finally the governments of the world have intervened and forced Apple to use a stand USB plug. Also the courts have ordered Apple to allow repairs by outside people. Yes, consumers have won the right to repair their devices, which Apple didn't want.

I have an iPhone, I love it. I have an iPad, which works just fine. That's the original SE and an iPad 5. What Apple tried to tell me is, my phone is obsolete, and they don't make parts or batteries for them. Five years is obsolete in Apples mind, plus they lied, over and over, about sudden shut downs, and said, the battery was fine, it's something else. New battery and everything works again.

Nope I don't trust Apple, but the phone works better with things I need it for, than the Androids did. One company had no software that would work with Android. As a hired web employee, for another, I had to have an iPhone. So fine, I have one. But that won't make me like anything Apple, ever again. They are unethical and manipulative as a company.

Cute ad, I don't know why it's so upsetting. They paid to crush all that stuff and some colorful paint. How does a pulled ad, somehow get more attention and views, for free, than the pay version. Did they do that on purpose? Yeah, make an ad so controversial that people spread it and anyone who doesn't know or care will be led to go watch it.

New Coke?

The message was simple - the new iPad can take the place of all these things and be your new creative tool.  The execution was horrific because you didnt know where it was going until the final punchline.

Oh, and using Cher, that would be upsetting to some people?  ;)

I got the all these obsolete things, but really? A tablet is going to be the "everything for everyone" machine? I didn't see if it had a GPS. I still use my GPS?  ;D

Since later 90's that i replace Apple Mac for PC. Less cost, better performance and i could assemble what and how i want it.

I made a mistake of buying an Iphone.. 16 months ago.
- Cannot plug my best headphones,
- Stupid and expensive charge cables,
- I can transfer files from Iphone to PC ...BUT....I  have to use Icloud to transfer files from pc to Iphone... why?
- I cannot block an anonymous call from calling me!? This so stupid for a 1200 Iphone. Even an 150 smartphone does that!!

Each topic i had to solve with workarounds. Usability or user-friendly are really not topics for Apple money machine.

I am afraid to say but Apple products are for me a thing to avoid. They are very limited to Apple environment toys.

100%.  Exactly how I saw it.  Ad itself is horrible, but message is clear.

Re Apple, just like with most other things, there are those that hate them and those that love them.  But quality of their products is superior.  cca 2009 I switched from PC to Mac and never looked back.  MacBook Pro that had wine spilled over between other things is still functional.

Boy, I absolutely love my iPad Pro and paint a lot on it. (Its so much more intuitive than PC with Wacom Pen and Ive been using Wacom since 1997 full time for work) However,  If you ever tried to paint holding an iPad , it gets heavy fast, so Ill be up for buying a lighter version. I use it a lot! (Now sitting outside on a patio) Im so done with PC - and have a monster work-station with server at home, but just so tired of office.

My new iPhone pro has an amazing quality video, definitely well worth an upgrade, since I take on average 3 hours of video per week

That said, I love my technology toys and its a passion for me.

commercial can be an add for new Breaking Bad 🤣🤣🤣  Ill watch that! Its definitely not an add for Christmas or Birthday gift for IPad - it should appeal to moms

But if your Mac dies mysteriously from a know parts malfunction, the Genius at Apple will open is and look at the secret moisture detection tabs and say, "sorry, your device was subjected to water damage, no coverage." This is not uncommon, even when there was no wine or water damage.

I worked on a Mac and loved it, but I have everything PC. I see others who have Macs and they are nice, great display, I heard very wonderful for photo editing.

I also know entire business that had so many problems with their MACs that the switched to PCs and have been happy ever since.

This isn't as easy as, this vs that. Either system is fine, for what someone needs and how they use them. Same for the phones. I have a crappy old SE and it's better than the best Android I ever owned. My iPad just kills the Samsung tablet I use. This is live me, I own both, not I like one better because AppleNazi's are aggravating, or I don't like the business model.

Some Apple products are better, some are overpriced and a bunch of sugar coated fluff.

I really liked this Ad. It kinda says 2 things to me. Crushing everything into one as in 1 tablet. But also crushing carriers due to AI and tech.
It doesn't offend me that they crushed nice new instruments. A lot of people destroy things in the name of Art. I wonder how many guitars are smashed and drum kits are kicked in at rock festivals. I'm just impressed that they somehow sourced a huge press machine thing. I wonder what its normal day to day job is? Looks too flat and open for crushing cars. Good bit of editing as they only had one go at it I assume. The eyes popping out is probably a cut away they did later. Not sure why it got banned? Lots of cars have been destroyed in safety commercials etc? Like someone above wrote. I bet Apple loved the fact it got banned as now people are talking about it.

Some of their products are good as a tool.
Personally I upgraded to Macbook pro to edit videos for YouTube as my old Windows laptop wasn't powerful enough.

I use ipad for browsing around. But I won't touch any of their iPhone which are crap after a while and overpriced.

I use Huawei P40 Pro. Which I'm very happy, apart that doesn't have Google service.

Apple is a company just do a bit of features and are asking for triple price.

I do high end motion graphics work and make fractal art and after 6 years of my previous Intel Mac I have updated earlier this year to an M2 Studio and it seriously rocks.

As humor, I ran into a guy at a bar, who was "into fractals" and he had just bought the latest 486 so he could make them better and faster. We never stop going faster and better?  8)

Cute ad, I still don't understand what was offensive. I mean the whole idea, without the ad, that an iPad Pro would be the creators tool of choice and replace all the others, is a complete farce, but so what? Politicians and special interest groups, tell us that electric cars are the future and people swallow that?

yes, i thought it a good ad also (though i disagree w apple's closed system, especially for apps, and high prices). [and early on,  Jobs defended apple graphics by asking why anyone would need a color monitor]

but have you considered that this was AI generated?

I don't disagree with some of things you wrote.  Silicon is Silicon and everything can fail.   I am not "Apple lover" or "Apple Hater" - just typical consumer that looks to get most bang for his buck.  And my experience is that their products are high quality.   Very reasonably priced iMac24 I have right now is superb on desktop for Photoshop editing.   MacBook Air I got on Christmas sale few yrs back is so small I can take it when travelling.  USB connect with good DAC and you can use it for TIDAL streaming while working at home on iMac. Software is another issue, compared to Windows at least - MacOS so much more intuitive and easier to use.

Largest thing that doesn't sit well with me is classic Apple arrogance -  "We are better than everyone else" - for which this crushing add is perfect example.  But it does not have anything to do with end quality which is the most important thing.

Politicians and special interest groups, tell us that electric cars are the future and people swallow that?
(Side note) As of 2035 no new gas cars will be sold in California by law. Yes, the future of almost fully self driving electric cars is here, its already common on our streets. If you will save $400 per month on gas and 30 minutes each way to work by taking carpool lanes - electric cars suddenly become much more attractive! Almost every family has one commuter electric car in our area, at times parked right next to F250 or muscle cars. Money and time are valuable commodities.

I think that we have to keep in mind that ads, politicians, or sometimes what you call special interest groups mainly sell concepts or idea's. Not specifically a reality, or not a reality for everybody. Apple's ad might claim that they crushed the whole creative industry in one device, and this is true from a conceptual point of view, but not always a reality. Yes, I can play a bit of guitar or compose music on an iPad, but it doesn't come close to what a real guitar player or musician would do on real instruments. Yes, I can take quite satisfying pictures with that iPad, but it doesn't come close to what a skilled photographer would do with an high-end camera.

Ads of laundry products are claiming new formulas and whiter than white results for as long as I live. Meanwhile, my plain white t-shirt isn't as white as it used to be a year ago.

I never truly understood why we don't react more aggressively on false claims made in ads. For instance: even after diesel gate, fuel or battery consumption advertised by car brands is still way off, and does not reflect real consumption in a real traffic situation.
