BME on FT & 123RF.

Thought FT was going to surpass SS this month, but SS pull it out in the last few hours and beat FT by $3 dollars.

Yep.  Worst since first couple of years in the business.  Since some are reporting great sales it is probably search engine related.

The search engine change at SS did a lot of harm actually. The last 8 days were lousy at best. Here's to hoping SS fix it before it gets worse.

Actually one of the best months, mainly because of Adobe/Fotolia, Shutterstock is falling down. I suspect, buyers are shifting towards Adobe. Shutterstock is still first for me, but less sales than the last year. Sales on Fotolia have tripled.

Maybe because I started microstock in July 2016  :D ;)
lol probably

by the way it was good in terms of downloads number: +50% vs October and +300% vs September without adding many new images

but no video sales and no extended/SOD so revenue were not so much

My SS earnings dropped bad in the second half of November especially this last week - I'm punished for not uploading much in the last few months, new stuff is selling well now and I have very little to offer :) My bad

SS about the same as last year with much more work uploaded
FL up
123RF up
DT up
CanS down

Smaller sites mostly down.

Overall almost the same to the cent as last November. Bear in mind I do this full time and upload a lot.

For music - October was my BME (since 2012).

For footage/images - November was BME (since 2014).

Average month but best Rpd ever ... (6 years).

+6% earnings vs Nov '15

For the first time in 6 years Shutterstock is under 50% of my total earnings (48,30%).

Shouldn't we all....seriously though if you are happy that you work is top quality technically and aesthetically  then you may need to address subject matter and key wording or possibly sites outlets that may suit your work better.

Yes, the search engines rule first and foremost (on the big sites anyway), not quality, that is secondary.

On a huge site like Pond5 it doesn't matter if you upload the best New York time lapse the world has ever seen since there are hundreds of clips with hundreds of sales that will show up before you in search no matter what you do.

Yes as in the end most buyers want "good enough" not "best ever"

Absolutely, I'm on my way out of microstock and going for boutique midstock agencies. I think there's something seriously broken with the RF model from the photographer point of view.

SS further slightly down, even from the worst October in years
FT slightly better, but still far from BME
DT well above average
123 slightly above average
Alamy 3rd BME
istock can't really get worse, lowest number of regular downloads in 7 years

i think that the search engine switches old and new good-sellers through the year hence someone is performing better and someother not in the same period ... maybe those who said that was WME in 2 month will have back normal sales...but it's just suggestions.... :-X

FT, SS & 123 all had BME.

SS is catching FT which is a little surprising. FT has been losing a little ground over the last couple of weeks or more. Probably SS improving their search and FT taking the foot off the gas. Either way, SS closing that gap quickly now but, all in all, they all performed really well this month!

I only have 4,400 images on SS and well over 5,000 plus images on 20 other companies. So far I have made $3,500 for November plus whatever iStock comes in with the subs, GI, and pp- usually from $200 to $500 extra thus could hit only $4,000.    :)

-15% compared to Nov 2015

And I increased my portfolio by 40%.
These aren't small fluctuations - my portfolio has 5 digits.

Still waiting on PP and other stuff from iStock to compare to Oct 16, but if I assume similar PP results, -5% compared to previous month.

Given that I added so much assets in the previous months and that my earnings are dropping is worrying. Either I'm doing something wrong, or the agencies are. I'm sure the quality of my work could be improved - that's always the case - the point is, I didn't have to aim for super-high quality before, and now it seems like it's necessary. Or maybe even the "best ever" assets wouldn't help, and it's just luck in regards to the search engine. Dunno.

great November! especially from the RM/RF agencies. SS was very good! funny but last say six months the final result have only differed by a few dollars. It seems our monthly income is pretty much decided beforehand.
Adobe/FT prioducing steady results. DT was also beginning to show some life. :)

Amazingly good at FT.  They have passed istock by and almost even with SS. Good news because it will make up some of the loss of income when I quit istock.   123, for me,  took a dump.  My normal sales there are around  $400/month.   This just over $100.

Overall bad trend tho.  First Nov ever that was lower than October,  and almost 20% down on last Nov.

68 months in this business and a BME for me this November! The 'Wall' is near so I have to finding ways to keep pushing it back... :)

Don't worry the wall will find you just like the rest of us.

FT is looking up. Alamy is changing how they work even at the point of being 10% of what they were 10 years ago. SS holds their own with the best income. IS will continue to drop while claiming profit and exciting news. The rest hold or slide with no hope of any future for realists.

Take the profits while you can, don't expect endless growth and income. More then one has come here with their answer and success, only to find that no body can escape the enviable. Don't quit your day job. Don't spend based on projected future income.

Nov is good for the overall current state of Micro.
