5! Why? ??? ::)
You? ;)
What is your number?
-
I'm on 6 - guess some folks thought I was talking sh1te (I do that a lot) ;D
-
3 - I guess I'm not trying hard enough. ;)
-
3 .... it really doesn`t bother me, but I don`t understand it. I do not ignore anyone. If I think someone is talking bu11sh1t I just don`t continue to read, but I HAVE to read it before ... anyway, his next thread might be interesting, or a post who bothers me or triggers a emotional response within me might indicate that I have something to learn.
Discussion is good. Or, as William Blake said: "Opposition is true friendship" ;-)
-
I used to have just one ignoring me, and I had no idea who that was. I still don't. Then one day some real troll types came into the forum and I responded to one or more of them, and suddenly 'bang', I had another two ignores within minutes, so I'm sure that was them. The other one came later, and again I have no idea.
Don't worry about it though, none of us can please everyone.
-
recently got to 17, had 18 ;D
-
Woohoo! Good for you Luis! ;D
-
recently got to 17, had 18 ;D
Wow Luis, you got the record I presume, anyone with more? ::)

ahah don´t know but if there is a reward I will do my best :D
-
BTW, the day I stopped worrying about 'ignores' was the day I realised that Tyler has some too. I just checked and now he has 6!
I guess they didn't realise who he was. :D
-
I have a few. I attribute them to drugs. I get really mouthy when I take these pain pills. :P ;D
-
recently got to 17, had 18 ;D
Wow Louis...!
But, I haven't seen in your posts any reason to put you on someone's ignore list... ??? ??? ??? ::) :P
Quite opposite...
P.S.
Mine ignore list is empty, and probably will stay empty..
-
Just one... 10 seconds after giving a basic tip to one member.
Will he forgive me one day?
Mine is empty, and will be, because "any opinion" matter.
-
Oh I just remembered who one of mine was. Someone complained that they'd been ignored by someone, and I responded with a joke and then put 'sorry' in brackets (I was apologising for the bad joke), but they misunderstood and thought I'd apologised for ignoring them. So they ignored me. :D
I realised what had happened and tried to explain but I guess they weren't reading my posts after that, so it stayed that way.
So... four in all, and just one that I have no clue about.
-
I have one ignore. I'm certain that this came about when an on topic thread got pirated with a bunch of people sharing laundry tips and I chimed in with mine. :D
-
:D
I remember that thread! Ignores would be totally unjustified. :D
-
I can't beat out Luis for top spot, but I have 14 people ignoring me. OTOH have 173 useful posts. So it goes to show you can't please everyone. ::)
-
Why on earth would people ignore you Lisa? Or Leaf? It makes no sense.
-
I see most of the users around here are a bunch of pussies, I have 17 ignores :D
I remember getting half of it for getting in a partially political debate. I wasn't offensive, I never wrote anything that would be nationalistic (I really don't have anything against any nation), I just said it as it is IMO. I guess my straight shooting style, topped with some sarcasm doesn't go along well with many ppl over here. Members of a particular nation are particularly sensitive if you say something that doesn't go along with the way their country runs politics.
This number of ignores doesn't mean sheat to me, my fav posters all have lots of them (lagereek, Lisafx, gostwyck, Baldrick etc, too many to put down, don't hold it against me if you weren't named, those are just the first that popped to my head), but as Lisa already pointed out, lots of ppl also have a lot of useful posts ;)

Wow, tnx, I never thought I'd read that here (although I do get this often in real life/on FB etc). Well I did get it once from the gals (Lisa and I think it was rubyroo and ShadySue), but we really had a great discussion
-
oops - almost hit ignore instead of reply ...
I suggest that ignoring says more about the ignorer than the ignoree ::)
-
recently got to 17, had 18 ;D
Wow Luis, you got the record I presume, anyone with more? ::)
Thanks for quoting Luis, if you hadn't I wouldn't have been able to see what his figures were. Just kidding guys, I don't ignore Luis, or anyone.
-
I am at 7, and I have ZERO on ignore. As much as I might disagree with peeps, it is still very nice to read what others think.
-
3 at the moment. I had only one for ages and while in a bad mood one day I made a comment that I regretted and apologized for but had already picked up 2 more. I always thought the first one was from Shankie but when he left I still had it.
-
I think I have 6. Only know who one of them is. I really don't care. That person never even comes on here any more but is still a member. The problem is when you say something others don't agree with it or know they are guilty of, it always hits a nerve and they hit ignore.
Lisa I'm shocked that you have so many. You are a presence on this forum and a lot of the new comers don't quite understand the discussions that sometimes occur here.
-
BTW, the day I stopped worrying about 'ignores' was the day I realised that Tyler has some too. I just checked and now he has 6!
I guess they didn't realise who he was. :D
I know, that's pretty funny.
I'm at 19 now. I take it with a grain of salt. Some of the nicest people on here have almost as many. ???
-
I have 8 ignorers. I never ignore anyone, even the couple posters here whom I've concluded are total jerks. I never say anything nasty or personal to anyone; I ignore any such posts directed at me. So, 8 people must find my opinions so incorrect or uninformed that they don't even want their eyeballs to fall on them accidentially.
I don't understand why people participate in a forum like this but want to filter out posts that disagree with theirs, or don't reinforce what they already think. What's the point?

Woooow, why that? Never have seen a "bad" post from you....
-
The whole 'ignore' thing is weird to me. You see a post, write a reply, but may be just wasting your time because the poster is 'ignoring' you - no way to even find out. Maybe you check back over the next couple of days, expecting some response, and when you never get it, you think maybe you were ignored, but can't be sure.
If you can't handle all the posts in a forum, don't read them - or better yet don't participate at all. In my mind the word "forum" means "a place where everyone gets heard". Not a place where you go to hear just the people you like or agree with, and walk out when the others are speaking.
If we're concerned about rudeness, I think this passive-aggressive thing of secretly 'ignoring' people so you don't even see their specific replies to your posts, without letting them even know, - is totally rude in itself. And IMHO this so-called feature has no place in a public internet forum. Call me old-school, or anything you want, actually - and I'll see it because I guarantee I don't have you on 'ignore'.
Let's see if my 'ignored by' count goes up after this post.
-
I used to have 0 and now found I've got 1. I don't think I offended any one, perhaps somebody just finds my posts boring and useless...
-
0 but I do get ignored by two on this forum via PM.
God knows why but I can't be bothered anymore to find out, got better things to do with my time... like posting how many users ignore me…very important!

Would you like me to put you on ignore so you can feel more like one of the group ;)

Whatever flicks your swtich ;)

Five ignores to 73 "usefuls". It's hard to believe that so few people want to ignore my wittering.
-
I like the ignore button. Some ppl, like in real life, are either complete muppets or really stupid. I'm allergic to stupid ppl. And like in real life I do put ppl on ignore (in real life I tell them to f off, directly or in other words). I think it's a feature that should stay and I urge leaf to not consider getting rid of it.
It seems really funny to me that so many ppl are surprised they're on someone's ignore list, are offended by it, say they don't care, when it clearly shows they do and it bothers them. You can never please everyone and I can't understand why some ppl want to be liked by everyone. I don't care about that at all, I'd rather be in good relations with few ppl, the ones I like, respect, can have an interesting discussion with etc, than liked by everyone and be just some generic person. Like a most generic stock photo. It's so * boring. I know I'm way to black& white (meaning there's no or few shades of gray in my thinking and consequentally posting) and I'm too straight forward and I don't care too much if someone who's either too sensitive or too stupid gets offended (and puts me on ignore).
-
Guys! you havent got a patch on me! 30 ignores but 47 useful posts! ;D, who cares? to be ignored by the ignoramuses, is a big plus, they dont participate with anything anyway.
kepp it up boys! and a happy Easter! Whiskey and eggs ;D
-
Haha brilliant again, Lagereek. Whiskey and eggs, lol, nice final touch ;D
-
Poll Poll Poll . . . . we want a POLL!
anyone have experience with setting that up? (guess I'll get an ignored for my laziness) ;D
-

It's not necessarily because they want to filter out posts that disagree with their opinions - there's nothing wrong with that.
I've ignored a few, but it's usually because I've found their posts either repetitive or boring, always harping on the same things, so I can't be bothered to read through them. I figure that if they do post something interesting, it'll probably get quoted by someone else, so I can get to see it anyway. And if they do, I might unignore them then...
-
Well, I'm offended! I have 0. You're all dirtbags! (There, did that move the needle?)
-
just 1. And that's a lot, because I hardly talk here. I hate needing a dictionary every 3 sentences. I'd probably have a lot more ignorers if this forum was in Dutch.

You are probably ignored for spelling ;)

Yes, give it some time. Express your opinion and you're sure to offend somebody. :D

The trouble with ignoring people is, you lose the red thread and in a long thread its easy to see which members have ignored others, their replies are often vague and doesnt at all correspond to the latest.
I say, if they cant take the heat, they should stay out of it, perhaps rearranging some flowers at home or go suck a lollipop or something, even better, go to the DPR, forum, boy! thay would have a coronary occlusion.

Hi there,
I said it before and I'm going to say it again : I have never ignored anyone and I never will.
I don't see the point.
You go ahead guys, write your posts, I'm here, trying hard to read them all :)
Sometimes however, I do scroll over certain posts. I find those irrelevant, lacking real info or repetitive, but I do not ignore them.
I have a theory of why so many people use the 'ignore' button. It will most probably increase my own number of people who ignore me, but I'm a veteran, I'm used with it.
In some cases, (NOT all), people use the 'ignore' button looking for a sense of power. It makes them feel smarter, more in control, powerful.
-'Today I have ignored 3 idiots on microstock forum!' - they tell to themselves and suddenly, their day looks shinier, and they grow in height.
It's an illusion of course, and it has a lot to do with the search for power.
But are they right in doing so?
Let's take Luis's case as an example.
Luis,
is one of the most helpful, truly useful member on this forum.
Ask a question, any question related to microstock, and if he's around, you will get a honest answer.
He is also one of the very few who have the guts to post real numbers, real dollars, real downloads. In fear of God knows what, almost nobody else does it.
His English is not perfect and his style is abrupt, but he's a treasure of information.
Clear, concise and genuine.
Ignore him at your own peril.
Suljo,
the reason Suljo is ignored by so many people is IStock.
Suljo doesn't like IStock. At all. For years he has been complaining and making fun of IStock. Sometimes he calls them names, other times he draws cartoons about IStock's HQ or IT team.
He's very passionate about it and his English is a bit shaky, but in most cases, fundamentally, he's right.
I assume some IStock exclusives who believe their pixel crowns are pure gold and they're too smart to read anything someone like Suljo has to say, happily use the ignore button.
They believe they're much too intelligent to even look at his posts.
But are they?
Don't you worry, Suljo, I, for one, find you funny and I will always enjoy your posts :)
I agree with Wut.
Some of us obviously worry too much about this kind of stuff.
In my case, I have no idea how many people are ignoring me right now, but a few months ago the number was high, lots and lots.
I'm up there with you guys, Luis, Lisa, Suljo and others :)
Unfortunately my life is not a happy one, I have other, much more important, vital problems to deal with, and I was forced to learn to let the little things go.
If it makes you feel better, ignore away :)
You're welcome,

At least if I say something really nasty I can still report myself to the moderator.

i agree with all you say, but i still use the ignore to block out trolls and others that just waste my time. if an ignored does happen to respond to my postings, i always do read that, but it's simpler to be able to just bypass some of the spam.
back in the BBS days of the early 80s we included a sysmin feature that set a twit filter for particularly obnoxious users - unlike kill filters, they could post, but no one could see the posts. this was only used for malicious and other vicious speech, never because of opinions, or views
-

Yes by more people than you are.
There are some people smarter, better, more creative and more serious about stock than I am, (and more sugar coated) who have more ignores than I do. Go figure? I'm also not politically correct which attracted a flock of ignores over one topic in "Off Topic" so it can be anything. Heck even I found my animated waving Avatar annoying, so I removed it. LOL
Oh yes, it's at 15 right now, seems that being nice has nothing to do with it, I gained two in the last week. One since the thread started. ??? And I've been behaving myself as part of the kinder and gentler new me policy for 2012.
Only know who one of them is. I really don't care. That person never even comes on here any more but is still a member. The problem is when you say something others don't agree with it or know they are guilty of, it always hits a nerve and they hit ignore.

Yes, I was shocked at the count for some very helpful ladies here, must be a cat fight or something. ;)
Yes, there was a time when someone with multiple identities gave everyone who was active, a negative, because his count went to 25 and was growing as the general forum was tired of the troll. He opened 5-6 accounts, ignored a bunch of people and closed the accounts. Probably gone forever. I believe the system keeps that numbers regardless, thus Leaf and some people all have six, just because of being here in 2008. Look for black names in the old threads and you'll see who it was.
So when I post the links for "Free Money" they won't see it? ;) I feel it's a protest click, most of the people who have someone on "ignore' will click the view button and read them anyway. It's a popularity vote of sorts and not important for anything.
-
I did it! I increased my 'ignore' count by 1, just by posting my opinion that no one should ignore anyone. Someone apparently couldn't handle that one, or thought it was so dumb that it was a waste of electricity to display it on their monitor.
Too bad for that person, because I will soon be posting the results of my year-long study of 'best match' algorithms, which led to my amazing discovery of how to double your sales by a simple keywording strategy.
-
Everyone has the right to put censure in his life and nobody can prohibit it... ;) ;D

Post that you're drinking a 10$ (per bottle) whiskey from now on, someone without ignores will quote you and half of the envious bas-tards will drop you from their ignore list. If that won't work post something in the line of, I haven't made a buck in RM for over 6 months and no one is buying industrial photos anymore. This should do the trick ;)

Should have been here last week, the fish were really biting! (sorry I'm not taking the bait, keep trolling)
$10 a bottle Scotch? I wouldn't use it to clean car parts! Of course you may have come up with the answer? ;D

Blimey Wut! 10 bucks, I wont even get a shot for that :D, but youre right, I havent made a dime for the lat six months! that should do the trick, all of a sudden I have zero ignores, then again I like being ignored by sissyboys.

I have to agree. I definitely find the ignore feature useful. I don't go crazy with it, and I don't use it for people whose opinions I disagree with. I like the back and forth conversations here, even when they get a bit heated.
Only people I ignore are obvious trolls, and a couple of people who just personally get on my nerves.
But they are all free to ignore me too, and have :)
Hi there! my theory is somewhat a bit differant. I think many hit the ignore button out of jealousy. Should you post anything like: Im having a great day! youve got two ignores right away. :D

Yes if it said "GOOD SCOTCH" for $10 a bottle that would have been different. :D
I have Ardbeg Alligator and you don't. (which of course three people here will understand and none will care for an ignorant taunt) Sold out in the entire UK in 2011. I got the last bottle in IL in Feb. It's being saved for a special occasion.

i wish the SS forums had an ignore button. I'd go there much more often if they did.

Wouldn't explain my ignores though. I haven't posted that in a couple of years, I think ;)

This thread helped me to reduce the number of ppl ignoring me - 1 down. I would have never guessed that would happen, I expected to get slapped with a few more if anything :D

Those are the best kind. I think the best debates are when you don't agree (isn't that the definition of the word?). I don't like to fight, but just agreeing all the time gets boring, disagreeing makes it possible to understand or at least start understanding where some ppl come from and makes it possible for you to learn something new (either someone else trying to prove a point teaches you something, or you do some exploring of your own to prove your point).
I don't go crazy with it as well. I only have 5 ppl on my ignore list. That's a surprisingly low number, I've surprised myself :o

i wonder what's the point in ignoring people on forums.
you're supposed to join a forum to actually read messages, if a mex is disturbing just scroll down, if the whole forum s-ucks just logoff and leave.

oh and i see only now i'm ignored by 5 people.

It appeases those who want it and those who don't like it won't stop using the forum because of it. So it's a smart move and it's here to stay. Most of us probably aren't aware of how disjointed threads may be as a result of people ignoring others, as there is an element of disjointedness in forums anyway. I would prefer a troll button, if someone consistently gets reported as a troll then the forum moderator can check on his recent posts and remove him.
I'm on 2 ignores and I'm 90% sure I know who one of them is and sometimes when I see the person posting I ask the person a question, I never get a reply and it always makes me smile. The only way I would be in favour of an ignore button would be if we could see a list of the people ignoring us, that would be brilliant. Threads would take on a whole new life :D
-
We had some heavy trolling in here now and then over the years, and I found some of the posts so repetitive, long and annoying, that I just had to protect my eyes from the invasion. Not what I came here for, so I put them on 'ignore'. In instances like that, I very much appreciate the facility.
-
For all you not understanding ppl putting others on ignore, I could also say I like everybody. Here it goes: I like everybody. Some I like to be around, some I like to avoid and others I'd like to punch in the face ;)

Think there should be balance between the "useful post" and its alternative, which, IMO, should be on the same level and not an all together "ban from reading all posts" effect.
Rather have 2 buttons (heart and a scull/Troll character or something like that) Useful Post = 1 point - Troll / Idiot remark = -1, both can be displayed and the end result, by deducting the one from the other. You should then end up with a sort of Useful Member Total.
The "ignore" option can perhaps still be left for those who want to use the extreme option.

funny can't remember than I last used the SS forums must have been years, I think I forgot that SS has a forum
-
How about a compromise. If you 'ignore' someone, the forum simply collapses their post to a single line, showing just the name but no content. There's a '+' you can click on if you want to expand the post and actually see it.

I live in Minneapolis and Al Franken is my Senator. During the campaign, he tried so hard to come off as totally serious. During that endless recount, he was almost grim, even though the opportunites for gags were limitless. But, the guy can't stop being funny and once in a while he cuts loose.

We have something similar to that now. There's a button to view a post by and ignored member. I do that sometimes just to see if I'm missing anything. Nine times out of ten it's just the same stuff that caused me to ignore them in the first place. Once in awhile I have seen someone who started out seeming like a troll, but eventually began making more useful or interesting posts, then I've unignored them.

I've never ignored anyone, so I don't know what (if anything) the forum displays for a post from an ignored poster. Are you saying it already does what I suggested?

Same here. And most of the time, the couple of people I have ignored get quoted so I end up having to read their stuff anyway.

unless you 'ignore ' people just because they disagree with you, there's no disruption - you just see the ignoired person responded and you can then read or not at your choice. if you do choose to ignore those with adifferent opinion, then it's your own fault if you cant understand a conversation! but evben here, there will be quotes using the ignored content
as far as moderator banning people, 1/ that would be a suppression of free speech, and 2/ a burden/responsibility that the moderator doesnt need
there's no reason to tell who's ignoring - that would be an invasion of privacy, and the ignroed person has no right to know. since it's a personal decision to ignore, it harms no one.
-
I think it's hard to distinguish suppression of listening from suppression of speech. If I get up to speak in a 'public' forum, but everyone covers their ears when I walk up to the microphone, I don't get heard. Has my 'right' to speak been violated? At some level I think it has.
Obviously if someone gets the microphone and drones on in an irrational rant, they should be stopped. But that's seldom the case here. I have to admit, I'm sort of at a loss as to why 9 people are ignoring me. It would be interesting to know the real reasons.
This forum isn't a governing body in a democracy, it has no responsibilities and doesn't have to meet any standards, really. I feel like it should. Fair play and all that. But that's just me.

Some ppl are * idiots. Nothing more. I think that covers it pretty well. As for the other half (or the exact part of ppl, whatever it is), well it's democracy at its best. Look at it this way, at least you get some honesty, when ppl (ignores) are anonymous. You at least know how many ppl don't like you. It might be a problem if you can't handle honesty though (in case it doesn't suit you of course). I for one, would like to see more honesty from ppl, I mean in my face honesty ;)

don't you think ignoring people even on forums reveals one's antisocial temper, egocentrism, and inability to accept or deal with criticism ?

No it hasn't. The right to speak is not the right to be heard. When Ahmedinejad addressed the UN where his rights violated by those countries whose ambassadors walked out? If you don't buy Penthouse magazine, are you violating the publisher's rights or the rights of the models to be seen?
-

They might just be busy. I wouldn't make too much of it.

I agree 100%, we should all be forced to sit Clockwork Orange style with our eyelids held open reading every post on this forum, lest we tread on anyone's right to be heard.

:D

I'm absolutely loving the pro-ignore arguments, humorous and intelligent :)

I have to say that if everyone was forced to listen to me on the basis of my 'right to be heard', it would be the way things are for my other half when my hormones are awry.
NO-ONE should have to live in a world like that! ;)

Obviously I don't. Judging from the vehemence of your above post, you disagree?
I see you have six people ignoring you. Don't worry about it. The rest of us continue to benefit from your calm, rational arguments and general charm ;)

When Ahmedinejad addressed the UN where his rights violated by those countries whose ambassadors walked out?
Yes, I'd say in some sense they were. Iran is a member of the UN, meaning their representative has a right to be heard in that forum. By refusing to listen, other countries' ambassadors are violating the spirit, if not the letter, of the charter. If Ahmedinejad were speaking on a street corner outside the building, it would be different. Hopefully someday that's where he'll be :-)
If you don't buy Penthouse magazine, are you violating the publisher's rights or the rights of the models to be seen?
No. That's an example of a market, not a "forum". No product has a "right" to be purchased.
-

Judging from what you said about Ahmadinejad, you don't like him and you'd listen to him only out of professional courtesy in the UN if you were a diplomat. So, since we're not in the UN and we're not diplomats, we could and should drop the charade. Even the real diplomats put him on ignore. So why should we, ordinary ppl act like we are better (read more fake) then them? Or act any different? We're not bound by such rules as they're and most importantly or actions won't cause any real damage, much less a global meltdown, nuclear annihilation or anything like that. If you don't like the song on the radio, you change the station, the same with TV, if you don't like a (stock) photo or a web site you don't look at it. Following your no one/nothing should be ignored logic we should be accepting everything that's in front of us. What does that mean, that every woman should be a tramp? :)

From 15 to 18 ignores in a couple of days. I've analyzed it and confirmed what I thought was the major reasons for being ignored here. If you're thinking out of the box you get ignored. If you try to look at the big picture, especially if your way of thinking is a bit edgy, you get ignored. If you write a post that's a bit more philosophical than most, you get ignored. So the bottom line is that some ppl here, like everywhere else are closed minded and shortsighted. Not willing to even to try to use their brains and see beyond their noses. And there are a lot of ppl brainwashed by fox news and probably tea party activists. Blind patriotism is plaguing many threads as well. So you really have to not join debates that are only slightly political unless you're one of the conditioned sheeples or act like them.
All that being said, there are a lot of intelligent ppl over here with broad horizons. It was so obvious in this thread http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/easter-taking-its-toll/25/ (http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/easter-taking-its-toll/25/). You can see who's intelligent, open minded and knows what he's talking about. And who's just an ignorant, brainwashed person.

I'm ignored by 3 people. lol That's funny since I try to be nice, informative and generally I don't give a rat's behind about the 'politics' of microstock so I get to stay out of most of it. I wonder what I wrote!

U're pathetic! I'm already at 20!!! ;D ;) 5 in a couple of days, it must be a record. It feels so good to be on top of something :) . My sales may suck, but at least I'm not a no one, a dull person no one notices. Even if he dies, nobody but his closest relatives would notice. Ppl like that are like amoebas. Maybe you could learn some complete English words and stop texting your insulting messages here, filled with non-words. That would be a small improvement to the torture of reading your self aggrandizing drivel.
Reminds me of someone else who self destructed after telling us how he could make so much more money if the agencies would just get rid of the sub-standard photos of other people, so his superior work could get more exposure. Yes you are a legend, in your own mind. It is a surprise that you only have 20 ignores. People are being very polite and kind to you.

Well, perhaps you could point out that non-words, so I could improve my English. OTOH, there's no helping you, your ignorance is far too great and view of the world outside US, which you obviously consider inferior, is so absurdly skewed that there's no helping you. Someone who says:"People are jumping out of windows in Japan working for minimum wage making iPads, stressed out and underpaid", shows all of that. Europeans are just communists for you, there's still curfew in Romania and no freedom whatsoever and you were the laughing stock for posting those ridiculous working hours stats which you based your view on. Fortunately you were at least clever enough to keep quiet after being ridiculed and rubbished by ppl who actually have the knowledge and insight into it and not oppose them with your narrow minded and ignorant views.

I wouldn't mind a dram myself ... no chance, unfortunately.

Dammit! Flunked again. Still only a pathetic five ignores.
Some also act like they're in a petry dish :D
It worked when you were Slovanian and left. To bad you decided to come back.

Great stuff! No wonder you have only 11 posts but already 2 ignores. If I were as good as you, I'd have 168 ppl ignoring me. It's just sad you're not able to comprehend what this ratio is saying about you ;D
