Hi MSG Folks,

I wanted to get your feedback on a few names I use in my key wording along with the file name and description. Here are the words that I have doubts on:

1. Attractive- Does the model have to be young (i.e., 18 to 30 yrs of age range), athletic, and curvy body (female). Thus someone like myself 50 years old doesn't fall into the category.  Wouldn't the photographer make that decision?

2. Professional or a Title (Dr, PhD, MD Teacher, CPA)- Does the model have to have a certified/accredited degree within that field? For example, Doctor, Teacher or CPA.

Also, if these seem like stupid questions please don't respond with see Google or Duh! The reason why I ask is that I got rejected due to these keywords and need some good advice. Yes, I sent the company that reject the images a question as well but I want to here from the pro's like you that do this everyday for a living.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Tom

1 - if the person is attractive you should add it, I don't think many buyers will search for that anyway

2 - if you are using them for stock they can have any job you want, if he is just doing thumbs up don't use doctor as a keyword of course

There are other keywords too that are more gender specific - "pretty" young girl,  "handsome" doctor.

Good tip luis - I have never keyworded face.  I suppose you would only use it when the face is the main thing in the photo (i.e. headshot).

Words like attractive, sexy, adorable etc are totally subjective, and I'm shocked you got 'attractive' rejected. I've seen some 'adorable' kids only a mother could love, etc.

Professional - they have to look as though they are engaged in a 'profession' - that will be an old-fashioned definition, so things like lawyer, teacher, accountant etc. Whether the model has the IQ of a frozen pea or a PhD in nuclear physics is irrelevant. ( if your Professor of Nuclear Physics is on a beach wearing a Speedo, 'Professional' almost certainly will be irrelevant).

Was this istock? I have had them reject some keywords that shouldn't be, but most of the time, the image was also rejected for another reason. Not sure why they go to the extra trouble of checking keywords of an image they were going to reject anyway, but I have long since stopped second guessing istock

lol, true. i'm surprised you are allowed to even use "attractive". it's too subjective.
