Title: Image Search - so vital?
Post by: takestock on August 20, 2008, 13:40
You know when you think about it, the "Search" on all sites obviously plays a very vital role on how many sales we get.
Images sinking to the bottom/rising to the top.

It would be nice to know the exact criteria for each site but I suppose we never will.
Also, I'm led to believe that they are seemingly changed around every so often.

Anyone with any insight or views on this?

Here is what I know about the search engines

Fotolia
changes too often. But order of keywords plays into it
Once it was number of keywords, now I do not know anymore

Dreamstime: as just mentioned number of similar keyword in title, description and keywords

iStock:
-Strong on age.
-Popularity dls/time
-Size
-exclusivity? Might be connected to the longer review time fornon-exclusives.

Stockxpert
-Very strong on dls and views
-Age plays a factor as well

Shutterstock
- very strong popularity dls/time
- Age: buyers looking very strong for new images. If your imagefails there, it might never be popular

Most stable is Dreamstime and Stockxpert. No change there for along time.

Thanks for that Freezing!

Apologies if you thought I might be hijacking your other post about DT search.
It just came to mind about sites in general so I thought I'd open a new thread.

Cheers!
