I am selling my images in 10 Microstock web sites - Shutterstock, Big Stock, Fotolia, Dreamstime, iStockphoto, Stock Photo Media, 123 RF, Can Stock Photo, YAY and Depositphotos. I mange to get several hundred US Dollars from them.
I have set goal for myself to be able to make 1000 Dollars a month by the end of 2014.
What other web sites will recommend to join?

I also wonder about other sites which are more of art or artistic - such as - Redbubble, Zenfolio, Smumug, Photo Shelter etc. - what are your opinions about these sites? Can one make money out of them and are are the recommended among them?

In terms of micro, with this 10 sites you can address to at least %95 of the market. If I were you I would focus more on production then spreading to new sites. Maybe you can add Alamy to them, since they also accept rf.

My advice is to build your own Symbiostock site. This will be a good way to increase your sales.

At the beginning sales will be low, but when buyers start to add your site in their prefered site list sales will grow. This is my personal esperience with my Symbiostock site:

www.millionstock.com

Have a good luck!

If you want to increase your income I'd highly suggest adding more photos, not sites
