Hi,

Some interesting statistics I would like to share with you. It's amazing what you can get with a few PHP scripts

I've extracted here the list of the top 20 photographers (based on portfolio size) plus some other (including me

) and this statistic displays the average number of downloads for the Top 60 photo in each portfolio as well as the individual downloads for the top 10 photos.

You can easily see that Yuri Arcurs (logos) is quite successful... what a surprise!

Those figures are based on StockXPert only for now.

Each site is different and require specific coding, but I've tried to do something similar for iStock... and I succeed

The information are in fact even more interesting here as it is easy to know the total number of downloads at IS. I show also whether contributors are exclusive or not... very interesting indeed to see that most top earners ARE exclusive.

The list of contributor is built manually here as IS does not provide a list of contributors. I've used the list of black diamonds compiled by duncan1890 in his blog and have added some more entries such as iofoto which has still a long way to go to reach black diamond

Feel free to ask if you have more interesting contributors to add to the list.

I'm myself close to iofoto at IS which is VERY nice

But iofoto has more than 10'000 photos waiting to be uploaded here... the fairy tale will end soon for me

I've created some PHP scripts which use CURL to fetch pages from IS and other sites and I then parse the HTML code to extract various useful information using regular expressions. The PHP script then put all these information together to build a nice web page.

In fact, I use a similar technique to automatically (well... almost) extract my own sales statistics from all microstock sites. This way, I'm able to store each individual downloads from all microstock sites in a MySQL database and then perform a lot of useful queries to analyse my sales. Very cool indeed

This is more or less easy depending on the site and I have to update my scripts each time a site do modify the HTML structure of their pages, but is is still a very useful tool.

But it definitively require quite a lot of coding and is not for the faint of heart

What is the average downloads/all column at the end signify?

Intersting to see everyone's top images on one page. Nice work.

The first value take into account only the most downloaded photos: this is the average total number of downloads for the top 50 photos.

The second value equals the total number of donwloads divided by the portfolio size.

The first value is interesting as it can be used to compare the performance of portfolio having different size taking into account only the best photos. It is IMHO a good indicator of the photographer potential.

The tool is nice. Not sure if you aware of istock-only statistics/comparison tool at http://www.istock-apps.com/compare/

I wonder if you can get more numbers in your tool for stockxpert, similarly to istock-apps...

You have to trust a lot the developer of this site to give him your username and password!!

Basically it is possible to extract any information you can see when browsing on a site and then perform more or less clever statistics and comparisons. With a username/password, you have access to the sales statistics of that user.

I use this technique to extract all my individual sales from all sites I contribute to and put them in a database: photo ID, date, earnings, license type. Imagine what you can then do by putting all these figures together

This is quite an interesting analysis tool, but I'm not sure right now that it will allow me to increase my earnings however.

To complete my answer: I don't know what kind of information I get from this site as I don't want to give it a try...I will keep my password for myself ;-)

And I will not provide myself any information which do require a password.

But if you would like to see some "public" information to be included on my site, I would be pleased to try to add it provided that you tell me what you are thinking about.

However, I have troubles retrieving information from DRM as they use a lot of Javascript/AJAX in their pages. So don't ask for information from DRM, please
