Title: Is it okay to share the photo shoot with other stock photographers?
Post by: twinsterteam on February 12, 2017, 01:16
Hello everyone

I and one of my friends recently just had a shoot together with the same clothing and props but we used own gears to shoot. I know the EXIF is different and the angle and lighting are slightly different somehow. Is it okay to do that? Anyone has ever done this and encountered the problem before?

If you each have a model release I see no reason why not.....but it rather dilutes the saleability of the pics I would think

If it's RF - absolutely no problem - RM could be a problem, though technically wouldn't be - if you see what I mean.

I'm not 100% sure of that but I could see it as a potential problem if one or all the contributor were a fully exclusive contributor (at Istock) of if you were submitting images from an exclusive shoot (like at Stocksy). iStock could cancel your account "just cause", they don't always give a warning!

If no one is exclusive it will work but just get seperate model releases for every photographer from every model and ideally use different lenses and angles! One other option if you have many models is to take turns with the main group while the other photographer can do portraits with someone else on the side. Having many photographers leading the same group could get pretty messy!

I don't think it would be it problem, and I have teamed up with other contributors on shoots. But do think it's probably a good idea for each person to try and shoot something different even if you're using the same models and locations.

I doubt any really professional microstock photographer would go exclusive with any stock site nowdays. Especially with istock.
