Now I dont know if its coincidence or not?  but I have not uploaded anything to IS, for over a month ( which isnt long) but a lot to other agencies, I have also gradually been deactivating images at IS but leaving them on the other agencies. So whats the result?
Well, the major ones, SS, DT, FT, have increased by about 30%, two in the middle tier have increased by around 20%. This sort of increase, I have never seen before!
Many of my oil-industrial images are selling like crazy on the agencies mentioned and thats mainly the ones deactivated from IS. Is it a sign or just coincidence?

If not, well at least in my case, IS, have done me a whacking great favour with their new best match.

Anybody else?

I've only noticed an improvement with SS.  I haven't uploaded much to any of the micros this year, I'm finding it hard to stay motivated.  My sales with istock have taken the biggest hit but DT and FT are also down.  The fact that SS is still so strong makes me think that they have gained the most from istock's losses.

It still doesn't do me much of a favour though, because I'm now far too reliant on my earnings from one site.  I would rather all the sites were doing well and my earnings were spread more evenly.  If istock gets any worse, more and more exclusives will drop the crown and there will be more competition on the other sites.  I don't see that helping me much.

Right... time to start getting out to some oil industry installations to get into that niche that seems to be opening up ;)

Hardly Holgs,  I have kind of dominated that nieche in RM, RF and Micro, for the last 10 years. Why do you think the Getty-RM, gives me such privilleges?  not just in oil but in nuclear, engineering, technology, etc.

Its a good move Holgs. :)

Some other "oil niche" must be selling at IS...

On the other hand, as you know, Best Match shifts often. About two, two and a half years ago, it shiftfted toward new uploads during a couple of months, like now... Then, another shift put best sellers again in front, an that, with small variatons,  has lasted almost two years.

As far as Im concerned, this best match lark is all over, Im not hanging around for shifts anymore. We have stood for this nonsense, for over 4 years and its time to put an end to it.
Besides, Im not losing any revenue, contrary Im gaining, which is what this thread is all about.

Five years in micro and this is my result, including Alamy ofcourse. around 500K, now if I break it down, IS, is the leader untill 8 months ago, after that SS, beats it by FAR!
This includes Alamy ofcourse.

my point aint the money but all the humble around SIR lagereek

Just spoke to a friend of mine here in Sweden, also an independant IS, diamond and he had experienced exactly the same rise at other agencies. Maybe, limiting your port, etc, would sooner or later increase revenues?
Anybody else?

Might have done us a favour in the fact that we never became exclusive.

Hi loop!

I know but in looking at this new best match, its all about new images/uploads, etc and according to the Admin, this is the best match which is supposed to remain. It would take years for it to establish itself.

All I can say is that, from an experiencie of years, big changes favouring new stuff at IS have always ended reverted to some kind or other of best selling best match, no matter if they say they are satisfied for a while. Maybe this time will be different? No idea, but, if it is, it will be first time.

Im with you, this time though, I fear the present best match has been adjusted in some sort of way, to fit into the migration to TS. The search, no matter what you search at TS, will produce very mediocre results and I am talking very questionable quality, content and irrelevant material.

The best match used in present is the most sophisticated until now. And the algorithm behind make it change automatically all the time.
So the fact that it is here to remain means the algorithm will be pretty much the same but the results will change all time. Like the water, the structure is the same but it takes different forms, depending of the container.

Do buyers like the best match search changing all the time?  It doesn't look like it to me, lots of them appear to of gone to a site that hasn't had all these changes.

By sophisticated I suppose they mean complicated and prone to instability. I don't care how complicated they can make it. All I want is a best match that delivers a decent, steady flow of sales.

I OTOH would like one that maximizes my profits, preferably at least quadruples it ;)
