Title: is this allowed?
Post by: luissantos84 on September 02, 2013, 16:09
I am talking about having 2 contributor accounts on the same agency (actually on "all" agencies)? just found a curious case so I am wondering if this is allowed, must be I guess ;D

I have 2 on Alamy which they required me to do when I was in the first News/Reportage group they started a couple of years ago. I was also in the earlier "creative" collection (not in this current one), so I had to split the account. I wish I just had one account since it takes longer to reach the $175.00 payout threshold when your sales are split between two accounts, not to mention the fact that it takes 2-6 months (occasionally longer ) for sales to clear there.

I'm curious, why do you want to set up two accounts?

(NB not me!) I first discovered it wasn't allowed some years back when someone who shot both children and 'adult material' for iS wanted to separate them in case parents of potential models came across them when checking out his port, or the kids themselves came upon them when looking for their photos online. (I think the adult filter is 'on' by default, but there were a few occasions around that time when it was 'buggy' and reset in either direction.) Anyway s/he asked if they could have two accounts for that reason and was told 'No'.

Nowadays they'd probably allow it as long as you didn't hope to merge the RCs.

It is if they know about it and approve. Like everything else, there are the general rules for most of us and exceptions  for special cases.

There are shared accounts that are agencies, with a group of people.

I am talking about having 2 contributor accounts on the same agency (actually on "all" agencies)? just found a curious case so I am wondering if this is allowed, must be I guess ;D

I wonder if it's the same with Istock. I made two accounts there by mistake. First I made one when I got into microstock and signed up at all agencies. Then I decided not to apply to Istock right away because I wanted to improve my skills. So after a few months when I finally decided to apply, I totally forgot that I already have an account and made another one. I realized it after I sent the 3 test pictures. They didn't accept me as a contributor, but I want to keep on trying to get accepted so I'm a bit worried about the other account.

I guess it should be fine because I'll never use both of them, but Istock is well known as a weird agency. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow find out about that other account and ban me forever :/

Envato permits it.  They offer a higher royalty percentage for exclusive content, but the only way to set that up is to have a separate account for that content.  I haven't set up a second account myself, but will do so if I find anything I want to make exclusive there.

I always wonder if it was allowed.
I think that it could be useful and helpful to have separate portfolios if you have different media (photos, illustration, footage, audio).

I don't enjoy being called lazy ;D

if SS doesn't allow I am sure they have opened an exception here, same with DT and FT, don't think this contributor would risk having accounts terminated...
