I read sometimes back about a guy who would submit 2000 files/ months. Do you think this is possible based on the amount of files that need editing, drawing ( for vector artists) etc??
-
That's 67 per day.
With photos? Absolutely, if you work hard. Can I do it? No, I work too slowly.
For vectors? I suppose if you make 20 similar variations of each one...

Or for some people 2,000. For me if I did it full time I reckon 20 photos a day would be comfortable

If it's something like this: https://www.shutterstock.com/g/alexmillos?search_source=base_gallery&language=en&page=1&sort=newest&safe=true (https://www.shutterstock.com/g/alexmillos?search_source=base_gallery&language=en&page=1&sort=newest&safe=true)
(just an example, not commenting the quality or making a critique)
You can submit over 2000 files per month.

It's easier then you might think, everything can be fully automated: adding keywords, submitting the files... As for the images themselves: a lot of people simply use a set of 'base' images (could be patterns/words/icons/textures ....) and let the computer generate new 'series'. So let's say you have 5000 icons, just let the computer generate them as a stamp, next as a roadsign, button, and so on ... It doesnt take a lot of time, once you have your basic set. RPI isn't that good though obviously (since you are quickly competing against yourself).

Some of these contributors could have people working for him. Image factories, basically.

Oh they all do. Makes you want to quit right now.

Yep. These are factories of multiple contributors, not individuals. Once they divide up the profits most of their individual photogs are probably making way less than successful one person operations. They are hurting the business but I doubt to their own benefit. Certainly not to anyone's long term befit, except the agencies'.

I doubt those contributors of "image factories" are slaves. They are either poor people who were taught, equipped and directed completely (benefit) or creative individuals who just realise simple "1+1=3" cooperation effect (benefit too). They are are just hurting YOUR business since probably you are less effective. No offence.

I think I did 1,500 in 4 months when I started and that felt like a lot of work. Most of them were just walking around with my camera. I wouldn't upload a lot of those photos now but in late 2006, almost everything sold. Taking the photos is easy, it's the editing and key wording that I find tedious. I still don't want to pay someone else to do the tedious work, doing everything myself keeps costs down.
If I was starting now, I wouldn't think about quantity, I think it's all about having a niche and filling the gaps in the sites collections.

Big teams of 10-40 people. Costs a bit to keep it going too...
