Valentine sales are over. Designer do their stuff months in advance. For now, it's summer travel and vacation brochures ;-) Xmas sales start in September.

I have to agree.I shot a few valentine concepts( 3) and had 4 sales from the one image.Result.
The micro libraries are full of xmas/ valentines/easter files and anyone thinking up different and original ideas for these 3 popular subjects has my admiration.

It has been a good month for me so far and I have very few valentines photos. Considering the severity of the economic downturn, I am pleased to see the sites are still doing well, I expected 2009 to be much worse than this.

This week is disaster for me!
All sales are dying...

Although some may buy images in advance for their projects, I don't see that trend of "sales months in advance, nothing next to the event".
I often have seasonal sales right next to the date, I even sold New Year images right after New Year and a shamrock illustration the day after St Patrick's.
I haven't sold perhaps any of my Valentine-related images lately, except for a heart illustration that has an odd high performance in BigStock and makes 90% of the latest sales I had there, but I sold some St Patrick and Easter ones this week (so 1-2 months in advance only).
Having said that, overall this month is slower than I had expected, with DT falling deep in my best earners list.
Regards,
Adelaide

True to an extent, but not always. I do a lot of web design on the side, and it seems I always have clients who wait to the last possible second to ask me for holiday related work. I have actually bought a lot of Valentines images this week because of that.
But yeah, the big budget projects are always done months in advance.
