If this trend continues I will have worst result across the board. Summer or recession?

I'm coming to the same conclusion.  Very Depressing.

I looked back over the last two years, however, and June was bad in each of them.

July is almost here.   :-\

Yep.  Very depressing month.

I can only hope this is the worst one this year.  If July and August are as bad or worse heaven help us  :P

My sales have been slow across the board except shutterstock has been my BME. I also bulk uploaded a bunch to them in the middle of the month so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

in that case, you'll need to reveal your strategy. witholding info creates bad karma, you know.  ;)

Oops!

You are right.  Then I will do some extra good actions this weekend to compensate.

Not bad to me, possibly will end about the same as May.

DT and Fot will probably have BMEs.
IS slowed right down in last week and will probably end up WM this year.
SS about normal.

Talking about karma. When I posted here about how bad the month is I got 3 PELs on 123RF. I would call it good start of weekend :-)

A little better than average for me. I think a
lot of it has to do with the composition of our individual portfolios.

For instance, my sales usually take a nosedive in November.
But my port is weak in winter seasonal images & I have zero Xmas stuff.

...while I know that I'm still a newbie (when it comes to microstock), June has been the best month I have had this year (I only started submitting to any micro last Dec).  This month at SS has been nearly double the next highest month I have had to date.  My accepted contributions are still only tiny amounts compared to most around here--far to little to make any extrapolations about the general state of things.  Basically one recent shoot has been well received and accounts for a few dozen downloads in June itself.

I hope the trend continues, but fortunately/unfortunately my commercial-fashion assignment work has kept me so busy that I haven't had a chance to create many new shots for micro.  Next month might yield some useful info (about SS at least), but it will be Aug. before I can do any significant micro shooting.

NO it's not - sorry for you.
But you can't compare this month to last month or any other month this year - you need to compare to last June. There are too many variables that make month to month comparisons useless. If you are ahead of last June then you are on the right track - if not then you need to be concerned. Personally I have always bested the previous year and don't see that trend changing.

Well, I have twice the number of files and 1/4 the number of downloads as compared to last June on IS.  Guess I need to be concerned....

I am having a great month & summer.  Whatever this "summer slowdown" people speak of is not something I have experienced.

I agree with the month to month comparison, I also think it makes a difference how big portfolios are and how actively they are contributed to.  Someone who consistantly has new content will likely do better than someone who has a stagnant portfolio.

I long since stopped comparing months to other months or years to years. Too depressing. Instead I look upon each sale as a burst of sunshine that defeats the gloom for awhile. Thankfully I don't need to make a living at this.

For me this whole year has been a bit slow, but June is a bit better than the last two months. Only DT is down, but I stopped uploading there and I deleted around 2500 images.

I'm exclusive (and full-time) on iStock and this month is on track to be my second BME.

June has been okay for me about 20% higher than last junes earnings. I have increased my portfolio by 20% in the last year. geeze I thought I'd put more effort in than that. But atleast it wasn't add 20% to stay steady or go backwards.

Small port, excl. FT so this means nothing..........already more than double last June but majority of sales were made in the first 2 weeks of June and pretty much deceased after that. June looks to be slightly better than May so far but if the last 10 days are anything to go by, July will be rotten.

I guess I chose the right month to make my move. I knew it would be my last month because I deleted my portfolios on different agencies so I could apply for exclusivity on the 24th (was stuck in DT to the 23rd). So I knew june would be bad and probable july and august too but I have a lot of new stuff to upload to IS so it might compensate a bit for the move.

comparisons can give you a rough estimate, but even looking at yearly data all you can extrapolate is a rough trend - last year was the depth of the recession, this year has seen improvements, but that doesnt help to project what the next 12 mo will bring.

comparing results, slowdowns to others is again only roughly useful, since portfolios vary so much -- eg, my images sell slowly, but steadily and i dont see annual slowdowns [almost 4 years in MS now].

I hope you can keep us informed of your progress on IS. I contemplated exclusivity myself a few months back, but something spooked me and I backed out.

I'm also going exclusive with IS this month but can you believe I haven't had a DT download in 10 days (yes, that's TEN DAYS) and I just need a few more to withdraw my earnings before I quit!  Gonna miss those level 4 and 5 earnings but.....  anyways, hope it's just a bad coincidence.

I think the IS exclusives are suffering too, probably too many people have become exclusive in the past few months.

This is shaping up to be my worst month since December 2007 - back when I only had 1/3 of the images online that I do now. My SS and IS earnings are eroding at an alarming rate.

If this trend continues, I don't know how much longer I'm going to continue uploading. I'm in this business to make money, and I'm starting to wonder if my time is better spent working on projects that generate more income.

I don't see how is that possible with your portfolio...
