Heat wave here in Wisconsin, I see 28 degrees in the Sunshine onthe front of the building. 47 in the warehouse (save on money, don't heat the whole building!) and a sultry 67 at the computer.
"His son Mark has also built an independent fortune as the owner of Getty Images, one of the world's biggest picture libraries, which is quoted on the New York Stock Exchange."
Wouldn't that be previous owner of Getty images? Why am I lost again? Feb. 2008 NYT
"Getty Images, the biggest distributor of pictures and video in the world, agreed Monday to sell itself to the private equity firm Hellman Friedman for $2.4 billion, including debt."
Looking at the NYSE there's nothing listed for GYI (Getty Images)
Hey do we all celebrate now, two years of Getty and IS under the new owners. If H&F are true to usual financial investment tactics, one or two years left, at the most?

I think I've never seen a thread divert so much from the original subject. ;D

I don't think I've ever seen someone drag up an 8-year old news story as a 'New Topic' ... without so much as an explanatory note.

Oh, I hadn't followed the link, I thought it was about the Getty III - the one who had been kidnapped as a kid and had his ear cut off.

Oh Holy Timewarps Batman I got sucker punched on that one. Didn't see the dateline was 2003! Oh My Goodness.
Thanks for pointing that out.
Explains why things were out of date and wrong. Deja vu all over again?

Oops sorry about the old link....I was trying to link to this more recent stroy http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12399648 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12399648)
John Paul Getty III has died....he was the first son who the father snubbed in the will, he gave the bulk of the family fortune to son number two instead, Mark, who from what I understand used the money to open Getty Images. I just find this family history very interesting and complicated, the son was kidnapped and the father refused to pay the ransom and left his son for 5 months until they cut off his ear! Pretty wild story. I just always find it interesting who the personalities are behind starting such giant/successful corporations.

Balzatar's dad (the actor recently on Brothers & Sisters).
Hehe, I read the title of this thread and for a second thought another pope had died.

;D ;D ;D
It reminds me when John Paul I died, and my father woke me up in the morning and told me "The Pope died", I thought it I was having a deja vu feeling, but it was just that weeks before he had woken me up saying the same, but it had been Paul VI.
