Who has done being Exclusive from iStock, then switch being Exclusive at Shutter?

How's the earning?

Oh, I did not know that, because I was declined in my application in signing up as Contributor.

Not only do they not offer exclusivity, but in a recent (post IPO) interview, Jon said they had no plans to.

None of the other agencies that do offer exclusivity - Dreamstime, Fotolia, Canstock - really do enough volume to make the deal worth it. You can do exclusive images there, which might make sense in select cases.

There is no one out there who is an attractive exclusive agent. Stay with IS, with all the risks and problems, or go indie

Jeff! good little port! I would stay exclusive with IS! for sure! yes SS, still sell a hell of a lot but things are changing there as well and it wont benefit their contributors in the long run.
In fact the whole scene is changing, so better the one you know then the one you dont.

The days when the grass was greener on the other side? that boat is gone.

SS vs IS

... many of the most successful indies (on IS) are reporting 2X earnings on SS compared with IS... the answer is: Yes, is that good.

exclusive from IS to SS: not worth it - especially because it's impossibile

exclusive from IS to ALL top/middle and some low earning sites: worth it, but it takes time and effort

The only real change with SS is the IPO and we can only guess how that will work out. Anyone that thinks they know for sure is fooling themselves. It reminds me of the people that thought Getty going private would be good for their istock earnings

As for the OP, if I was exclusive with istock, I would be looking at other options, like using RM, getting in to video and selling products with sites like Zazzle. Istock is only RF exclusive. Starting fresh with SS, FT and DT is going to be difficult now.

That's on here. Off site, I know it's not going that well for other people.

Obviously it all depends on your port and how good a match it is for different sites.
It used to be that a lot of people wouldn't post if their iStock port wasn't doing well, now it's the same for SS. The market changes constantly. One area I used to hear (back in 2007/8) was selling far better on SS seems not to sell much there nowadays, but sells on iStock.

When people say they're doing well at SS, it would be a good idea to check out their port.

In any case, you can try out independence and if it works, great, and if it doesn't you can always go back. You should give it some decent time, though - if you can't do that, give it a hard think.

Thank you for your inputs. So hearing/reading from it, I guess I would stay with iS for now as an exclusive.

Also, I don't consider my files to be in the TOP level. Also, the man inside me also tells me to stay.

Hi Jeff, I left exclusivity in 2010 and have been blogging about it since with full income stats. I am a single parent so don't get a lot of time to devote to stock, which is why my port and income remain fairly small (though I am working on it!)
