Does choice of keywords play a part as to whether image is selected or not?

Which site are you referring to? Anyone in particular?

Looking at some of the keywording on iStock I'd say a definite no. Read my post, in another thread, on the keywording of an Australian flag image that I found on iStock. It had the most bizzare entries.

I don't think the inspectors even bother to glance at the keywords.

Some of the agencies are starting to reject photos because of keyword spamming. Istock  have started to get very strict about it with the new images going up the problem is people go in and change the keywords once the image has been accepted.

I think sites are startimng to crack down on keyword spamming.

CanStockPhoto and BigStock wil reject for keywords (leaving in vector if it is a rasterized illustration)

BigStock rejected somne of mine as I had place names in the keywords and it was considered a globally famous place (a beach in the Isle of Skye)

I suspect some sites may be looking out for certain keywords.

DT will let you add keywords and also report bad keywords to get them removed. I reported on Italian guy who had exactly the same keywords for every photo in a batch rather obvious for one batch of a trip around Scotland standing stones on Orkney turning up in an Edinburgh search. They were eventually fixed.

I was just blasted by StockXpert last week on just about an entire batch for "keyword spamming".  The first time it has ever happened to me. I generally use the same keywords on every site, except for those that have a kw limitation in quantity. However after a quick email to admin for an explanation,they responded with specific words they objected to.  I adjusted the lot and they took them all.
    I was completely confused by some though. Words that were in the title and in the description... they felt were 'spam'.   Go figure.  ???
