Title: keyword - should I maximize it ?
Post by: vii-studio on April 05, 2009, 10:09
Some sites like DT, the max keywords is 80, SS is 50.
Should I fill as much as possible to the limit ?

I fill 50 keywords in IPTC/EXIF all my files.
Is there other way to Increase keywords from 50 to 80 before upload to DT?

Did any other sites like DT have more than 50 keywords to fill? Fotolia?

Use as much RELEVANT keywords as you can.  Don't put eye, ear, lips, etc in a full-body shot of a person.

In IS I think in the end it doesn't matter much because synonyms get together with CV.

Some say in FT the less the better, but I haven't tried that myself.  But for them the order matter (most important keywords first).

DT reject for inappropriate keywords and I am sure they would find some in those 80.  They are strange being strict with keywords but allowing 80, that doesn't make sense to me.

I try to keep it under 40 so it will meet requirement of most sites and I do not have to edit keywords when submitting.

I'm doing 50 maximum, but since I order my keywords in order of relevance/importance by my script (http://flemishdreams.com/tag), they can cut if off everywhere, starting from 10. Usually after 30 or so, I have to think hard what to add. I never do more than 50, since it's the lowest common denominator on all sites. On DT, and reading some hints of the admins there, less means more. It also helps on DT to check the actual keywords that were used to find the image, and they are very plain.
