I was thinking about an earlier comment regarding setting up links between my site and that photo on a microstock site for instant purchasing.

I live fairly close to Edinburgh so i have a fair few photos

I did a search for Edinburgh on StockXpert

85 images of which 27 were mine I looked closer and there were some that were clearly not Edinburgh standing stones in the orkneys (about as far from Edinburgh as you can get without going to Norway)

I identified the photographer

they had 37 photos using the keyword edinburgh but only 2 were actually Edinburgh the rest were of around Scotland he was also using england as a keyword.

When I looked closer still I noticed they had used the exact keywords for all 37 images of Scotland even though all they ALL had in common was the country as there were castles, standing stones and landscapes. Some of the keywords may be appropriate to more than one photo but certainly not all.

ancient and b.c. beach brodgar castle celtic ceremony circles clear cliffs cloud clouds coast depth dramatic druid druidic druids edinburgh england falls field grat britain history holidays lake landscape loch mistic north north sea orkneys pattern peace places rain rainbow ring scotland sea shetland shore shoreline sky skye stones sunlight travel view water waterfall wind

their "Edinburgh pics"[

So do I send the photographer a friendly e-mail or just report the lazy person?

Lazy *insult removed* seems like it. Oh well. As long as they're not copying YOUR keywords blatantly then who cares. I had a case of a guy copying my keywords word for word on Dreamstime and got him banned for this.

i think i would report him to the site.

If he is too lazy to think of creative or different keywords he is definatly going to be too lazy to change them.

I also think you should report it because it DOES affect us, even though they weren't your words he stole.  if the sites fill up with keyword spamming, it will turn off buyers very quickly.  it will also fill up searches where YOUR images could be highlighted, with images that have nothing to do with the search.  Putting your image possibly on page 2 or 3 when it could be on page 1.

I would report, especially if all photos have identical words but different subjects.  They should then give the person a chance to update.

Keywords should be customised for the image.

I will send StockXpert an e-mail I notice his other photos aren't too bad with the keywords.

CJ go to StockXpert and do a search for "druids" you will see 38 photos

8 by this guy which have standing stones ;D

29 by this guy which don't from that upload >:(

1 by you of Stonehenge which if the photos are arranged newest first is the very last one. :'(

I stand corrected

Every batch they have done the same thing give every photo in a batch gets the same keywords.

This might be OK for a series of photos of planes but X-rays of different parts of the body

I found them at DT as well with the same lazy keywords.

They are FT but I can't see the keywords, has anyone else noticed hidden keywords at least people can't copy!

both StockXpert + DT replied to say they had contacted the lazy keyworder. DT informed me he will sort it out when he back from his holidays in a month. I hope he makes more effort with his holiday snaps.
