Title: LaCie 324 Monitor
Post by: MAF on May 07, 2009, 10:20
Hi guys, I'm new here and currently in the market for a new monitor.  I've been looking at the LaCie 324 and wondering if anyone here has any experience with that one.  Please share.  Or let me know what monitor you've got and if you're happy with it.  I want to stay in the $1,000 (Cdn) price range though so nothing crazy expensive.

Thanks, Marlene

Not sure if this is any help, but I have been using the Lacie photon20visionII monitor and have been happy with it.  Lacie has a great reputation and known for being one of the best image editing monitor brands perhaps second only to Eizo.

Also, there are quite a few rumors that Lacie monitors are just rebranded Nec monitors sold for much more... so you should at least also check out the Nec line.

I have the same one.  Bought it a couple of years ago for around $1000 US.  If you can get it now for $700 CAD I would jump on it.  Great monitor for editing photos.

Thanks for all the help you guys.  I went out today and drooled for awhile over the LaCie and some Apple. Now I'm going to have to check out Samsung too - oh oh.  More choices.   Samsung really?  Interesting - I'll check that out.  $700 would be great as I've been expecting to have to pay more.   What I don't want to do is buy something that 2 years down the road I'll want to replace. Course that might happen anyway.

Thanks - will check things out.  Bit more research on NEC too.

I am not sure if you are set on a 24" monitor or not, but here are a couple 30" monitors that I have narrowed down to.  I am still using the Lacie 20" but want to upgrade hopefully some time late summer to one of these screens.  I was hoping to get a new monitor early this year but a new lens got in the way :)

Not sold on anything yet Leaf so 30" isn't out of the question BUT I am determined to keep it in the $1000 range.  Too many things on the list of "I want" so don't want to go crazy on the monitor.  Will let you know what I find though.

Just to let you guys know - I ended up buying a monitor finally.  Samsung Syncmaster 245T - I think the 245T replaced the 244T.  It was $550.00 Canadian which seemed pretty reasonable.  Haven't calibrated it yet and only just got it set up.

Thanks for all the help
