Title: List of Agencies Which Allow Items for Resale?
Post by: alison1414 on April 13, 2016, 08:47
Is there a list somewhere  or does anyone know offhand which agencies allow buyers to use the images for resale items? A friend's daughter wants to start a business using stock photos of travel destinations to put into little kits for students for educational purposes. Sorry if this has already been asked - I don't have time to comb through all the topics, and frankly the terms of use for every different agency make my head spin. So is there a list of them somewhere, or does anyone know which ones do and don't allow this use? Thank you, colleagues!

iStock does, with an extended licence.
However, depending on your exact use, you may not need an extended licence. 'Articles for resale' would normally be putting your image on mugs or t-shirts etc etc where the photo is what sells the article. There was an instance I found of an educational card game using stock photos and apparently it didn't need an EL. If you contact their support team with the exact use, they'll let you know for sure.

Yeah, I'd say you wouldn't need an EL for that either.

Now, of course, CreativeMarket is, for some reason that defies explanation, giving away free resale up to 500 items in the standard license.  I wouldn't recommend them right now as a contributor, but as a buyer, you could certainly take advantage of their policy.
