Hi all,
my 128g ssd laptop suddenly lost the partition D:, the last time i used my laptop and D: drive is not accessible and showed message needs to be format. But after a restart it is not there any more, computer can be used as normal but I have no idea how to recover it.
try some software but can't get it back.
I wonder is it related to upgrade to windows 10 but it was running fine after upgrade and only happened this few days.
anyone knows software which can recover a partition?

Try to put your SSD on a desktop PC and see if you can find / recover your files. But I suggest after to delete all partitions and make a full format.

That is sad. Search for "lost partition" on G00gle, there are many recovery software out there.
Did you try system restore after that happened?

Did You try R-Studio by R-Tools?
It's quite successful in these situations.

I had tried R-studio but no success, i mean i don't know how to recover the whole partition with folders.
R-studio is able to show all folders in a problematic portable drive before, but this time it is a partition of my laptop so I don't know whether it can be recover same way.

actually i wonder is it related to windows upgrade, didn't think of the partition may have issue.
Try to put your SSD on a desktop PC and see if you can find / recover your files. But I suggest after to delete all partitions and make a full format.

The biggest downfall of SSDs :(
HDDs are magnetized disks of metal ... even after a mechanical failure one could recover data if they had the funds for it ... I'm not entirely sure what length you can do that with SSD. Also, most information sources say that SSD performance degrades rather quickly but, I haven't experienced any issues with mine.
Definitely try hooking your disk up to another computer to see if it will recognize the partition.
I finally rolled back to Win 7 ... Windows 10 didn't like my Wacom Tablet or my software and that bitch Cortana would jump up in the middle of my game if I said anything even close to "Hey Cortana" and get me killed.

Yes, mount in an external case or a different computer, not running Windows 10 and see if the system can see your data. Unless you removed the partition or formatted it somehow, the data is still there. Above all, do not wirte any new data to the SSD until you have recovered your missing files.

If the problem is due to a disk read error in the partition table, you could try Steve Gibson's SpinRite - see https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm (https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm) - I used it a lot in my previous incarnation as IT Support.
I'm not sure though how well it works with SSDs, never used it for them myself, but it has been reported as fixing faults with them too.

Take corrupt drive out, put in enclosure and connect to Linux machine via USB ; Linux (Ubintu, etc) has less trouble with corrupt Windows partitions
Failing that: EASUS Recovery Wizard Pro ($50 or so) - it really works, I tried them all.

Been using incremental every Sunday night. Saves some space and gives you the peace of mind. I've never had one that I couldn't recover but, last year I had a failure scare me bad enough to never chance it again.

NEVER back files up with a SSD drive. Use the good ol' fashion (big) ones.
I stored all my current photos on a SSD and then the hardware malfunctioned. They are very small so repairing them is harder. I spent $500 to recover my files.
The repair guy said never store data on SSD drives.
