Curious - is shutterstock now just 'punishing' contributors with $0.30 VIDEO downloads?
No idea how they could get it down that low, unless they are keeping the majority of the commission...
Obviously seems everyone is making a difference for them to decide to make it a super low comission...

I haven't seen any $.30 video downloads yet, but a ton of $1.00 earnings yesterday and today. The higher priced commissions were coming in pretty regularly up until a few days ago, and it's like they turned off that faucet and turned on the $1.00 and less faucet.
I had been reserving judgment on the 'new normal' at Shutterstock, thinking my video earnings might be holding up fine in the new scheme. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. No longer. Unless things turn around, you can count me in the camp removing their SS ports. I know I'm one of their top earners -- they've called me multiple times in the past to bounce ideas around, and in doing so said they were contacting their top 100 or so contributors by revenue. I'm no Africastudio, but I think they'll take notice if I leave.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt with regards to video. Deleted stills 2 weeks ago.
7 video sales today of $0:43 each which is rather worrying.
Stock sales are low, but at least they vary all over the place and get high ones too, but here, what on earth could they be used for for 43cents a piece?

Really? You’re not making tons more money, as Jon Oringer tweeted...when was that...just yesterday?
Sorry...it was three whole days ago. And I quote:
“You can focus on the first 100 downloads (ie: the 10 cents per dl) for the year - or you could do what a lot of successful contributors are doing - and making a lot more at the top levels then they ever have before.“
-
Yep, 5dl overnight for $2.67 all together ... that's it! >:(
Update: already 15dl and counting - for $6.09! All pretty old stuff I have never sold before ... I agree, something fishy is going there.
-
I had 20 files just sold for $0.84 if this continues at this rate I will be GONE with video as well!!!
-
Yay, 9 video sales in one day! :) A total of $2.06! :(
-
Awful. Deactivation may truly be the best business decision. I wonder how Blackbox will react?
-
8 video sales, total - $3:44 !! :(
-
I wonder how Blackbox will react?
Blackbox should seriously consider removing their portfolio from SS and no longer submitting new material.
-
Everything was normal until today $16.76 - $122.30 sales . June 25 - 3 sales $0.43, 2 - $0.84. >:(

Did you realize about last 1 june payment rate changes??

Today, I had 7 video sales at .84 cents each!! Pulled my 5k images few weeks ago, I think video boycott is next. NO way .84 cents per clip is sustainable for any contributor!! #boycottshutterstock #shutterstockboycott

Someone in the Stock Coalition Facebook group thought these super-low video royalties were from this new partnership with Projector
https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/projector-shutterstock-integration (https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/projector-shutterstock-integration)
I asked how one could know where the royalties originated - like the Facebook integration for images, it was always a guess when you saw a 38¢ royalty in the SOD column.

I don’t know what it takes for you guys to wake up and take a stand. It’s as if you are desperately trying to hang on until the very end. Deep down you know it’s game over there.
The longer we wait the less we will succeed supporting other agencies and recuperating those lost earnings. It will take time anyway no matter what because other agencies have yet to up it another notch. Jump ship (Titanic) while it still makes sense!
I see people like Mr. Jensen posting on SS forum that everything is fine but the guy only submits to Shutterstock so he will support that agency no matter what. Without Shutterstock he does not exist in this market. And I’m sure by now they’ve made him president of the SS fanclub with the added benefits, maybe even without his knowledge.
We know this business is not transparent so lots goes on behind the scenes. Africa Studio deactivating/reactivating is probably a good example of that.
The way I see it is that maybe 3% is hardly having any effect by the recent change while 97% is having a drastic effect and not in a good way.
So let them try to survive on that 3%!

Not really related to the June the 1st changes. Even without the changes, the headline would still be "lots of $0.60 VIDEO downloads?? from shutterstock?" or something along those lines.

I think there is the same kind of partnership between iStock and online editors like Animaker (https://www.animaker.com), Wibbitz (https://www.wibbitz.com) or Playbuzz (https://www.playbuzz.com).
SS is following in the footsteps of Getty.

Yup, had a couple of friends asking me about the 0.38 $ vid downloads too. How nice of shutterstock to help us in convincing people to boycott shutterstock. Guess we now know the next set of tweets/PR statements/messages to buyers we need to highlight

ok, these low amount downloads seem to be pay-per-view clips used on their new platform https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/projector-shutterstock-integration (https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/projector-shutterstock-integration)
Kate from Shutterstock answered a few hours ago that "Customers who purchased these licenses can only use the clips on that platform. They can't save or download them, or re-use them" https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/100567-043-cents-video-yes-you-are-reading-it-right/page/3/ (https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/100567-043-cents-video-yes-you-are-reading-it-right/page/3/)

Seriously, whatwereyouexpecting.mov?

Is blackbox still on shutterstock? If they are and you are contributor. Do you have anyway to get your video out of shutterstock?
How much is your royalty on .34?

Still on there and no plans to leave SS as far as I can tell. Unlikley they'd let everyone remove their footage from just SS but you never know. They'll be at 40%.
