What are the restrictions about using maps in images? For a request in DT, I shot some maps in an atlas, but using selective focus to emphasize some areas and blur others - I suppose this is ok, is it not?
The requestor showed an example found in DT also, it was a very small detail of a map, apparently with some edition effect to darken some areas.
The requestor also wants a full world map and a map of Brazil, but then I think I can't do that (unless again the shallow DOF idea is allowed and they want emphasis in one area).

I have some student photos with maps on the classroom wall behind them. Accepted everywhere but Istock and StockXpert. One slipped through at Istock and flamed in a month.... it's a shame, I have about a dozen in the series that sell very well.
They are perfectly right though - copyrighted artwork.

Pixart,
In my case the map is not just an element - it is THE subject. As I said, blurred in some areas, focused in others, so it's not like I am reproducing the map, still I am not sure it is allowed.
This is not mine, but the requestor was asking for something similar:

No identifying features... likely okay on the sites other than IS and StockXpert.
